Before long, we're in front of her house. I don't want this day to end. I go to my trunk and get all her packages while she waits for me at her front door. She opens the door and lets me in. She guides me to her dining room table and tells me I can put the packages down there. I feel her presence right next to me, and I glance down to see her looking up at me.

I'll never get tired of looking into those violet eyes. She's unique with her platinum hair as well. I lower my face to give her a kiss and she goes up on her tiptoes. Our lips are a breath away from touching, but we are in a trance.

"Can I kiss you, goddess?"

"Yes." She whispers so low I almost can't hear it.

Being this close to her is intoxicating, and once again, I say to myself, "I don't want this moment to end." When our lips almost touch, someone clears their throat, and Helene pulls away from me.

"Hey, Mags.” Helene steps back and glances between the woman and me. “This is Theo Foley. Theo, this is my sister Marguerite. She's a cop, and she's been looking for my stalker."

I feel faint at the introduction and wonder if I should come clean or if I should run as fast as my feet can take me. But my good manners prevail, and I offer my hand to Helene's sister.

"Yes, I'm Theo. The stalker. But I promise I had a good reason for sta…I mean watching Helene from afar. We're meant to be."

The cop gives me a weird look and I just realize how that sounded. Like I'm some sicko obsessed with her sister. Which, let's be honest, I sort of am. I should have reached out to Helene as soon as I found her on social media, not stalk her to find out her every secret.

"What do you mean, meant to be, Mr. Foley?"

"We were matched." I stumble with my words. "At the agency."

"Yes, that's right," Helene says as she grabs her sister's arm and pulls her toward the kitchen in the back.

All I hear are angry whispers, and I start to feel uncomfortable.

"Helene," I call out a little louder than is proper.

She runs back to me and grabs my hand.

"Let me show you out, Theo. I've had a wonderful time, and I want to spill all to my sister. Call me later?"

She rushes me out of the house, but on the doorstep, I stay still and push back. I then kiss her on the forehead.

"I'm looking forward to getting to know you better, goddess. Take care of yourself."

With that, I leave, wondering if I just damaged everything by admitting to being her stalker to her cop sister.

Chapter 6

Helene

I'm pissed off at myself and my sister. Why did I have to blurt out that Theo was my stalker? I just can't keep stuff from Mags. Then Theo starts being Theo, and she's already digging for a police record. When I begged her to go along with the "matched" thing, she refused, so I had to usher him out in a hurry.

Now she's waiting for me inside our house to "find out what's going on." I almost don't want to go inside, but she's my sister, and she's got to know. I walk inside and lock the door behind me. Mags is sitting on the couch eating a pretzel but looking like the bad cop she is. The guys at her precinct tell me she's one of the toughest detectives there, and she takes no shit from anyone.

"I can explain."

"You better."

"He's cute and sweet. He just took me to Universal Studios, and we had an amazing time."

"Why does he think you're matched?"

"He thinks I'm his matched bride from some mail-order bride agency. The Perfect Bride or something like that."

"You're not his match." She crosses her arms.

"I know."
