“How many in the pod now?” Jamie can’t keep track, though she’s told him every time things shift in her relationships. There seems to be someone joining or leaving, every time they speak.

“There are five of us, but we’re dating a sixth. He’s beautiful.” She takes another sip. “You and Nathan need to come over and meet them, while you're here.”

“Yes!.” He’s fascinated by the prospect of witnessing her poly habitat.

Andrew and Nathan are chatting at the bar. Dennis makes his way toward Jamie, pulling him in for another bear hug. “You boys are still coming up to the cabin?”

“Absolutely. Wait till you see our new home on wheels. It’s hilarious and we love it.” Jamie chucks. “We’re going to spend the next few days at Andrew’s. I’ve got to pack up all my stuff and donate what I don’t need anymore.” He swigs from a can of diet cola. “Know anyone who needs an old bed?”

“Oh oh, me!” A voice interrupts from behind. Jamie turns to the dark haired stranger with peridot eyes.

“Jamie—this is our new Jamie. Brendon.’’ Molly pulls him into their conversation.

Brendon chops the air between them, to shake hands.

“Nice to meet you Brendon.” Jamie meets the greeting. “The bed is about seven years old, but still in good shape.”

“Perfect.” His smile is charming. “I’ve been sleeping on an air mattress since I moved to town.”

“You’re welcome to it. I was just going to donate it.” Jamie shrugs.

“Thank you so much!.” Brendon lights up. “I’ve been saving, and then my car needed repairs.” His shoulders curl. “One thing after another.”

“I’ll give you my number, you can come by this weekend and grab it. I’ll take it apart tomorrow.”

Nathan wraps an arm over Jamie’s shoulders and plants a kiss on his cheek. “I let you out of my sight and you’re handing your number out?”

Jamie laughs. “Brendon is getting my old bed.”

“Hi Brendon. I’m Nathan.” He reaches out to shake hands.

“You’re both here for the big gay retreat?” Brendon sips his fruity mocktail. His giggle is infectious.

“Yes. Are you going? It’s a good time. Dennis and Robbie have a beautiful spot up in the mountains.” Jamie adds.

“Yes. I can’t wait.” His eyes drift to watch Sebastian’s sculpted glutes in skin tight jeans trot by.

“I know, right?” Jamie cracks up, wagging a brow and nodding toward the perfect pair of cheeks.

Brendon’s face flushes pink. “It’s such a distraction.” He giggles again.

“He knows it too.” Jamie shakes his head.

Brendon pulls his phone from his back pocket. “Let me grab your number, I’ve got to start preparing to open up, for after this party.”

Jamie takes the phone, typing a text to his own number. “We’ll be around all weekend. The apartment is just up the street, number 167. Come by anytime,” He passes the device back.

“Thanks.” Brendon flashes a charmed smile, “It’s really nice meeting you. Everyone has said such nice things.” He makes his way back to the kitchen.

“He’s really sweet.” Molly leans in. “There’s a story behind that one. We haven’t gotten it out of him yet.” The mystery must be killing her.

Hugo moves in for another hug. “It's good seeing you, friend. I’ve got to get to work. Please stop in again this weekend?”

“I will. We’ll be here for dinner tomorrow night.” Jamie assures.

The party winds down over the next hour and the crew get set up for the restaurant to welcome the public in for a busy Friday dinner service. Patrons start trickling in, claiming their reservations.

Nathan carries the leftover sheet cake covered in foil as he, Jamie and Andrew stroll to the apartment. Nathan heads back up to collect Rosy from the rig, driving it down and squeezing it into two parking spots, freed up after the tourists clear out for the night. They settle in and catch up over delicious cappuccinos Andrew has mastered brewing. The laughs and caffeine combine, keeping them awake until just past midnight.
