“There’s a party.” Jamie’s eyes light up.

That crooked smile and those dimples are driving Nathan wild.

“The restaurant closes on Halloween. When you work for fellow gays, they treat it like Christmas, but bigger. Dennis and Robbie got back in town over the weekend. They always throw a big bash at their house.” His eyes turn curious. “Would you like to go with me?” Another peck. “I'm not one for dressing up, but they expect it.”

“That sounds amazing actually. I haven’t been to a Halloween party in years.” Nathan perks up. “I did get two tickets for a Hallows Eve Haunted stroll at the Sanctuary.” He pauses. “Maybe we could check that out before the party?” The more time he gets to spend with the cutie, the better.

“Yes!” Jamie twists in his seat. “I’d love that.” He beams.

“Me too.” Nathan’s eyes are locked. “I should go. Mabel is going to kill me.’’

“Give that girl the rest of the pepperoni pizza. She won’t stay mad.” Jamie giggles. “Make sure you tell her it’s from me. I won’t have her mad at me!”

Nathan could explode. He pulls the cutie in for another kiss. He’s sure his dick is never going down tonight. He’ll be flying solo this go around.

Jamie slips out of the Jeep and waves from the stoop before disappearing inside.

Nathan adjusts the nagging brick poking his thigh and starts off toward home.

The old stairs creak underfoot as Jamie climbs to the apartment. No idea what the time is, but sure it’s very late. The microwave glows green at 12:41. He locks the door behind and scurries to the bathroom. Desperate to pee.

Sitting on the toilet, letting the river flow. He stares at the little wet spot in his briefs where a glossy dribble from his recurring excitement through the night had collected. He wanted to throw Nathan back onto that picnic table at one point and just let loose on the beautiful man. Cock blocked by the nagging little voice in his head that always spoils the fun. He washes his hands and shuffles across the hall. Pulling the door carefully shut behind.

Stripping off every piece of clothing to get into big comfy sweat-shorts and a tee. His phone chimes.

A message from Nathan. “I am really excited for Halloween! Sleep well cutie.”

“Me too.” Smiley face emoji. “Good night.” He hugs the phone to his chest and peels down the corner of the old quilt and top sheet. Taking a seat on the edge of the mattress, he pulls up his social media account and posts a new update. Just a red heart emoji.

Soft knocks tap against the bedroom door. “Are you decent?” Andrew’s voice whispers from the other side,

Jamie laughs. “Yes. Come on in.” He sets the phone on the nightstand.

Andrew’s head pokes around the door. His usually coiffed hair is wild and his sleepy eyes still sparkle. “How’d it go?”

“Amazing actually.” Jamie is still beaming.

“Good!” Andrew might be more excited. “I was hoping it would go well. You two are cute together.” He pats down the tangled nest on top of his head. “I couldn’t wait until morning to find out, when I heard you come in. I’m heading back to bed. Tell me everything in the morning!”

“Good night, Andrew.” Jamie giggles.

“Night.” He closes the door behind and shuffles down the hall.

Jamie switches the little table light off and crawls between the sheets, pulling the quilt up to his chin. He curls into the burrow and drifts off to sleep with a grin plastered across his face.

Chapter 21

Fortune

“I’m really excited for this!” Jamie rises on tiptoes, peering over the zig zagging line of Haunted Stroll goers ahead.

“Me too. It’ll be fun.” Nathan is completely infected by the cutie’s joy.

“I think the last time I walked through a haunted house attraction; I must have been about twelve?” His face twists, looking to the blue gray sky for an answer.

“This will be my first time.”
