Page 43 of Tempting God

“Nope. I like knowing you’re full of my cum.”

Heat licks my skin. “Do you have a breeding kink?”

“And if I did?”

I say, “I’m not complaining. In fact, you’re the only man I’d let come inside of me.”

“Good to know.”

“This is where you say it back…”

He grins. “You’re the only woman I’ve ever gone bare in, Little Fae, and I plan to keep it that way.”

He rolls us so we’re on our sides, and he’s still deep inside of me.

“Do you want kids one day?” he asks.

My gaze goes to his. “I haven’t thought about it much.”

Lies. I’ve thought about it often. Not with him, per se, but in general. Okay, maybe with him, but those were more of daydreams of what my life could look like if things were different.

He says, “I imagine it’s complicated for you.”

“How so?”

“If you have a son, he’ll be expected to join the Brotherhood. You’ve seen firsthand that the Brotherhood isn’t always good for a person. If you have a daughter, she’ll have the same burden as you. Her spouse will gain membership to the Brotherhood, which means she’ll have to be careful in who she chooses.”

He's the first person who’s ever voiced my fears about having children. My chest is tight as I try to gain control of my emotions.

“I wish there was a way to change it, you know?”

He rubs my arm. “I do know. I’ve had the same debate.”

“To answer your question, yes, I want kids one day. What about you?”

“I would be open to kids with the right partner.”

“Well, now you have to elaborate.”

He says, “My partner would have to be someone who understands not only the Brotherhood but my political aspirations.”

“That makes sense. They’re similar beasts that demand a lot of your time.”

“It’s more than that. I need a partner who can handle herself in the public. Look at you.”

“Me?”

My heart pounds in my chest as I wait to hear what he has to say.

“You handle yourself with grace and poise even when fuckers throw paint at you. Did you see the photos from the rally?”

I shake my head.

“My team sent them to me. They’re fucking wonderful, Greer. You look like a warrior. And my numbers dropped. When polled, the people said your speech made them reconsider their standpoint on who they should vote for. That’s the kind of partner I need.”

The fear I felt moments ago vanishes and is replaced with something I can’t name. Something that makes my insides feel all warm and gooey.

“I hope you find her.”
