“They, too, can fuck themselves.”

“Brooks, we both know it’s not that easy. For one, aren’t secret societies, like, for life? Two, you’re the Face of the Brotherhood. Your words, not mine. They’re not going to just let you go.”

“All valid points. Yes, the Brotherhood is for life. And yes, I am the Face of the Brotherhood. They’re not going to let me go, which is why they’re going to accept our marriage.” I move closer. “Especially when we announce that you’re pregnant.”

Her beautiful eyes widen. “What?”

“I want it all with you, Hannah. The house full of kids. You by my side at night. All of it.” I pause. “That is, if that’s what you want. I know losing our baby was devastating, and I don’t want you to do anything that you don’t want to. I’ll be just as happy if it’s the two of us for the rest of our lives.”

Her eyes water and she blinks away the tears as she tries to gather her composure.

“It was devastating, Brooks, but only because I was losing something that I desperately wanted. Yes, I will marry you. And yes, I want to start a family with you.” She moves closer. “But this isn’t some game to me. If we do this, it’s for life. We’re going to do things differently this time. No secrets. No lies.”

“Angel, I couldn’t have said it better myself.” I hold out my hand. “Let’s do this.”

She takes my hand but resists when I pull.

“Cold feet already?”

“Not at all, but I can’t get married in this.”

She gestures to her outfit. She’s wearing jeans that make her ass look fucking great. Her pink top is casual, hanging loosely off one shoulder.

“You look beautiful, Angel.”

“Brooks Henderson, I’m not getting married in jeans and a top I wear to be comfy.”

“Then it’s a good thing I already took care of it.”

“Took care of it?” Her eyes light up. “The dress from Bruno that’s arriving today. That was you?”

“Guilty.” I pause. “Well, I had some help. Ace and Isa are waiting for us at your office.”

“My office?”

“Well, technically at your bridal shop, but yeah. What better place to get married than there?”

She smiles up at me. “You’ve thought of everything, haven’t you?”

“I tried. Now, are you ready to become Mrs. Henderson?”

“I am.”

My heart pounds in my chest. “Say it again.”

“I’m ready to marry you, Brooks. I know this is crazy and doesn’t make sense, but it feels right.”

“Then let’s do this, Angel.”

Hannah

Brooks and I are silent as we leave my house and drive to my office. But he never lets go of my hand. Not even once. I glance at him, a warm feeling settling over my chest. I meant what I said to him. This is madness, but it feels right. I’ve spent so long running from my past and my pain. I’m done with that. From here on out, I’m going to embrace what makes me happy. Brooks is part of that.

My ring catches the light, and I can’t keep the smile from my face.

“I enjoy seeing you happy, Angel.”
