“Kora.” He held his arms out and gestured me toward him.
I licked my bottom lip and straddled his lap. My mouth found his immediately as his hands slid down my bare back and cupped my ass. The warmth of his hands made me shiver. I shifted to my knees and placed him right at my opening.
“Kora, I don’t have anything.”
I met his gaze. “I’m on the pill and am religious about taking it.”
“If you’re okay, I’m not going to stop this.” It sounded like he had run a marathon.
I smiled against his mouth. “Good, because I’m not either.” I lowered onto him slowly.
I sucked in a breath as he filled me, and closed my mouth on his as a moan of satisfaction escaped my throat.
Sex with Kai was a marathon I enjoyed running. We moved together effortlessly, and his fingers found my sensitive area. He knew exactly what I wanted, and just when I thought I was going to die from all the built-up tension, my body trembled and contracted as warmth exploded from my core to my toes, and I moaned his name.
He brought his mouth to mine and maneuvered us to the floor. “My turn.” His voice was hoarse and husky.
His mouth found my breasts and sucked long and hard on my nipples.
I gasped for breath.
He then slowly kissed his way down my stomach. Teasing me, taking forever to get where I wanted him. “God, Kai. Please,” I begged. I needed to feel the warmth of his lips between my thighs. I wiggled under him as he continued to tease me and circled his tongue closer and closer.
Finally, he reached the promised land. And yes, he had a talented tongue. I moaned his name again and again.
We lay cuddled on the floor when we finally finished, both fighting to catch our breath. Kai put a pillow from the couch under his head and covered us with a blanket. I was warm, relaxed, satisfied, and spent. I napped, wrapped in his arms.
Chapter 17
Kai
My back was slightly uncomfortable from being in one position for so long. I needed to get up, not only because of the discomfort but because I had to take a piss. But combing my fingers through Kora’s hair and feeling her breath light on my skin, was the most relaxed I’d been in a while, and I didn’t want to bother her. Not yet.
Part of me couldn’t believe that I, Kai Lawson, was lucky enough to be here with her. Kora was a small-town girl and was so well-loved in this town that she adored. She grew up around family and extended family and had friends that went back years.
I couldn’t picture what that would be like. Since my mother left, and we were left with our father, a loving family was something I only experienced in books and on television. My goal was to make sure the twins didn’t realize what they missed out on. It seemed to have worked. They were both doing well and living their lives to the fullest. Once I found Orlinda Valley, I immediately fell in love with the openness, and now here was Kora. Everything seemed to be fitting into place.
I continued to comb my fingers lightly through her hair as she slept steadily with her head on my chest. She was a natural beauty, both inside and out, and had a light about her that brightened every place she was. Whether it was at the pub hanging with friends, taking care of her animals on her farm, or enjoying nature on the river, her eyes shone with excitement. Even when she was pissed and hot on the side of the road, with no phone service, a flat tire, and a vocabulary colorful enough that a sailor would have been embarrassed, she was a natural beauty.
Her students were lucky to have a teacher as wonderful as she was. If she had been my teacher, I’m sure I would have had my first crush.
A moan broke through my thoughts, and Kora kissed my chest lightly.
“Mmm.” The warmth of her lips seared into my skin and caused my heart to beat a little faster. “Well, sleeping beauty. Did you have a nice nap?” I placed a soft kiss on her head.
“Yes,” she said in a sleepy, relaxed voice. She pushed up on her arm.
I grabbed the chance to roll over and push myself up and kissed her lightly on the lips before standing. “Excuse the view. I’ve got to pee.”
She laughed. “Don’t worry. The view is amazing.”
When I came back to the living area with shorts on, she was up and dressed.
“I guess we need to be heading back up the river,” Kora said.
Yeah, we needed to go if we wanted to get off the river before it got dark, but I needed to feel her against me again. I sat on the couch and pulled her onto my lap. “I agree, but first I want to say thank you.”
“For what?” she asked as she wrapped one arm around my neck and her other hand caressed my face.
