I watch them, feeling a deep sense of contentment. This is my family, my everything. I never imagined I could have something so precious, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect it.
Violet smiles at me, her eyes twinkling. “You go ahead. I’ll plate up our dinner.”
I give her a grateful nod and carry Lev to his room. He always eats first, since late nights mean late dinner.
We settle onto his bed, and I pull out one of his favorite books. As I read, his eyes grow heavy, and he snuggles closer to me, his little body relaxing against mine.
By the time I finish the story, Lev is fast asleep, his breathing soft and steady. I gently lay him down and pull the covers over him, pressing a kiss to his forehead. “Sweet dreams, buddy,” I whisper.
I quietly leave his room and return to the living room, where Violet is waiting. She looks up as I enter, a contented smile on her face. “Is he asleep?” she asks softly.
I nod, wrapping my arms around her. “Out like a light.”
She leans into me, resting her head on my chest. “Oh good. Thanks.”
I hold her close, feeling the steady beat of her heart against mine. “I should be the one thanking you, Violet. You’ve given me everything I never knew I needed.”
We stand there for a moment, wrapped in each other’s embrace, the love we share filling the room. I think about the journey we’ve been on, the challenges we’ve faced, and the future we’re building together. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth every moment.
“I love you,” I whisper, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
She looks up at me, her eyes filled with the same love and determination that I see every day. “I love you too.”
I hold Violet close, feeling the warmth of her body against mine. As we stand there, the thought of our family and the future we’re building fills me with a deep sense of contentment and longing. I lean down, pressing a kiss to her forehead, and whisper, “You know, I’ve been thinking….”
She looks up at me, curiosity in her eyes. “Thinking about what?”
“I want another kid,” I say, my voice soft but filled with conviction.
Violet’s eyes widen slightly in surprise, and then a smile spreads across her face. “Another one, huh? Are you sure you can handle another bundle of energy running around?”
I chuckle, nodding. “Absolutely. Lev needs a sibling, and I can’t think of a better way to make our family complete.”
She laughs softly, the sound like music to my ears. “Well, I guess we’ll have to see what we can do about that.”
I grin, my heart swelling with love and anticipation. “We’ll make it happen.”
I glance towards the door and then back at Violet. “You know, I think it’s time for the nanny to go home early tonight. Lev’s asleep, and we deserve a little alone time.”
She raises an eyebrow, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. “Are you sure?”
I wink at her, stepping away to call the nanny from the other room. “Maria, you can take the night off. Lev’s already asleep, and we’ve got everything under control here.”
Maria appears, her face lighting up with gratitude. “Thank you, Mr. Sharov. Have a good night.”
“You too, Maria,” I say, watching as she gathers her things and heads towards the door. Once she’s gone, I turn back to Violet, a playful glint in my eye.
“Now, where were we?” I ask, stepping closer and wrapping my arms around her again.
Violet smiles up at me, her eyes sparkling. “I think you were about to take me to the bedroom.”
“Right,” I say, my voice dropping to a low, intimate murmur. “Let’s not waste any more time.”
I take her hand and lead her down the hall to our bedroom, our laughter echoing softly through the house. The anticipation builds with each step.
When we reach the bedroom, I gently push the door open and guide Violet inside. The room is softly lit by the glow of the bedside lamps, casting a warm, inviting light over everything. I close the door behind us, the click of the latch sealing us in our private world.
I turn to her, my eyes taking in every detail of her. Her hair is slightly tousled, her cheeks flushed with anticipation. She looks up at me and it makes my heart race.
