“I had faith that the magic of this island and our Spirit-Healer’s gifts would provide a lot of relief.” Her smile is soft. “It helped me when I lost your grandfather.”
After what Coral told me, now I understand. I should have connected the dots earlier, but I’d been too tangled up in my worry about Shae.
“Come, we’ve prepared a feast for dinner. No doubt you’re quite hungry after everything,” Coral says.
As if on cue, Shae’s stomach grumbles and then mine decides to mimic his.
He arches an eyebrow at me.
I pat my belly awkwardly. “It’s not my fault. I was too anxious to eat earlier because I was worried about you.”
Shae shakes his head, a fond look on his face. “I was just fine, but I appreciate your concern.” He takes hold of my hand again and I marvel at the natural gesture. “Come on, Wolf Boy. Let’s go and fill our bellies.”
Grandma Coral wasn’t lying about a feast. We gather around a dining table is lined with dishes laid out like our own personal buffet. There’s plenty of fresh seafood—a staple of the island—vegetables, pasta and rice dishes, salad, and so much more.
Shae and I fill our plates, and Coral and Anemone follow.
We wolf—heh—down our food and go back for seconds, savoring the next round more slowly.
The women casually chat with us about the goings-on of the island, conspicuously steering clear of asking Shae any details about his experience. I totally want to give them two thumbs up each for that. They clearly recognize some of the same positive signs I did earlier and are still giving Shae appropriate space and privacy.
After we finish our meal, Shae and I volunteer to clean up. Coral and Anemone say their good nights before disappearing into their respective parts of the villa. I suspect they may have had sleepless nights as well, even though they’d never shown any sign of it to me.
When we’ve finished cleaning everything, we head to our room. Shae tosses his knapsack in the corner and sits on the edge of the bed, stretching his arms overhead with a yawn.
“Tired?” I ask.
Shae gets up and saunters toward me with a surprisingly sensual gleam in his eyes.
I lick my lips.
He takes hold of my shirt and pulls me close. “I thought about you a lot while I was gone.”
“You did?” My voice comes out oddly squeaky.
A slow, sexy grin spreads across his face. “I also thought about your naked body. I’ve been admiring it a lot when we go swimming.”
My tail begins to wag so fast that it’s probably a blur.
When he presses his groin to mine, I gasp at the feel of his firm length nudging me with obvious intent.
Does Pearl accept donations? Because she deserves a major tip!
“My healing ritual seems to have worked on my dick,” Shae says, his voice throaty and deep.
Gah! So damn sexy!
My own cock quickly rises to the occasion.
Shae smirks. “That’s right. Who’s my good Wolf Boy?”
Me! It’s totally me!
He leans in and whispers in my ear. “I want us to get each other off.”
I’ve dreamed about a moment like this. It’s so very tempting and I want to give in. But one thing holds me back.
“I want this more than you know, and I’m honored that you want to experience this with me. But becoming physically intimate with you has deep meaning for me.” I swallow hard. “I have a strong emotional and magical connection with you already. I’m your mate and I love you, but I don’t want to do this yet if it doesn’t hold the same kind of meaning for you. I think we should wait on such things until you’ve decided whether you want to accept our mate bond or not.”
