“I promise,” Luca says, and if I didn’t know any better, I'd say he’s trying to keep tears at bay. If he cares like this about his little sister, I know he will be the best dad to my niece or nephew.
“Phew, okay. I have twenty-four hours of freedom before Karina comes to Italy looking for me. Where are we going?” Luca rubs his hands in excitement, and I internally roll my eyes. We should have gone to the villa last night.
“Hmm, let's see. What do you feel like doing?” Bella asks Luca.
“If you say going to a cabaret or a gentlemen's club, I’ll hang you by your balls,” I interject.
Bella laughs, and Luca shudders at the picture I painted.
“No, bro. Karina is the one and only for me. I was thinking about going to the beach. It’s fucking cold in Chile right now.” Sometimes I forget the weather is the opposite in the southern hemisphere; when we’re in summer, they’re in winter.
“We can go to my beach house in Rimini. It’s just a short drive from here.”
Bella does her little happy dance, and it takes everything in me not to grab her and kiss her senseless.
“What are we waiting for? Let’s go,” Luca says as he makes his way back to the entrance.
“Wait, I need to eat and change,” Bella tells him. “I just woke up, remember?” She pins him with a stare, and he rolls his eyes and messes with her hair. I miss this sibling banter. I need to make a point of seeing Vicente and Karina more often. Maybe now that I’m with Bella, I’ll visit Chile more.
A couple of hours later, we’re back in the garage. We need to bring a car that fits three people, so my convertibles are out of the question.
“Really, man. What happened to the Lambo?” Luca asks again, and I can hear Bella chuckle behind us.
“Not sure. It was like that after I came out of a bar.” I shrug for good measure, but Luca knows me well.
“Are you serious? And the fucker who did this is still alive? Where were your bodyguards?”
“Mario was with me inside the bar, and Aldo and Rocco were with Isa. It’s not a big deal, nothing that can’t be fixed.”
“Okay, who are you, and what did you do with my best friend? The Gabo Godoy I know would die before letting anything happen to any of his precious cars.”
“My precious.” Luca imitates Gollum’s voice, and Bella and I laugh. He’s so ridiculous.
“Why are you so worried about it? It’s just a car. I’ll get it fixed in no time,” I say as I open the back door of my Mercedes G-Wagon for Bella. She kisses me on the cheek. I freeze for a moment, not understanding why she did that when she still wants to keep things a secret from her brother.
“It’s just, you’re always crazy about your cars,” I hear him say as I help Bella into the backseat, and he gets into the passenger seat. She blows me a kiss, and I blow her one back. I like living on the edge.
Once we get to my beach house, I park, and Mario and the boys park right behind me.
“Once baby Bianchi is born, we have to come here for a babymoon. This place is sick,” Luca says as he does a 360 of the property.
“You know you and Kari are always welcome here. Plus, it’d be nice to meet my niece or nephew.”
Bella comes to stand next to me and, in a very inconspicuous way, swats my ass, which makes me jerk in response.
“Are you okay, bro?” Luca asks, concerned, while Bella makes her way inside the house.
“Yeah, man. I think a mosquito bit me or something.”
After calling the local pizzeria to order lunch, we get into our swimsuits and head to the beach. Bella decides to give me a heart attack by wearing a tiny white bikini with a strawberry print. She looks good enough to eat.
“Hey, Gabo. Could you help me with the sunscreen? There are areas I can’t reach,” Bella asks with a blinding smile. I look where Luca is, and he’s busy on the phone—I’m assuming with my sister—and walking toward the water.
“With pleasure.” I lather my hands with sunscreen and wait for her to lie down on her front. I untie her top and start covering her back with sunscreen, getting as close as I can to her sideboob without looking like a freak. Then I make my way to her legs and pay special attention to her ass. I can’t help but chuckle when I see her squirming, trying to rub her thighs together.
“No, principessa. That won’t work. Plus, your brother is on his way back,” I tell her, even though Luca is still focused on his phone call.
“Help me tie my top, please?” she asks hurriedly, and I laugh. She’s so damn cute.
