We walked in companionable silence around the lake, the trail weaving us in and out of the forest.

"How do you know about this spot?" Millie asked as I detoured off a track at a set of boulders, assisting her to scramble over the ancient stone.

"I used to come out here a lot when I was younger. My dad liked to bring us boys out to the lake to burn off steam. One summer we found this private little cove. I've only ever seen one other person here."

Sure enough, as we exited the woods, the little cove opened to us, the soft sand of the small sheltered area completely serene.

"Oh," Millie sucked in a breath. "This is delightful."

I dropped my backpack on the ground, pulling a picnic blanket free to spread across the ground. "It's not quite a towel but it will do."

I shrugged off my shirt, my flannel long abandoned, and reached for my belt. For a moment Millie hesitated, her expression unsure.

"Hey, it's just me. I can close my eyes and turn around if it helps?"

She chuckled, shaking her head. "You've already seen the goods. What's a little more, right?"

With one smooth move, she peeled her shirt off, leaving her in a simple black bra.

I nearly swallowed my tongue at the wealth of skin she revealed, her curves on display as she kicked off her shoes, pushing her jeans down her legs and stepping free.

She's wearing cookie underwear.

Across the front where the words 'made for each other' with a cookie and a glass of milk holding hands.

Why does her underwear turn me on so much?

She grinned pointing at her crotch. "I have a thing for cute prints."

There was something in my throat as I answered hoarsely, "I can tell."

Her gaze dropped to my hands resting on my belt. "You gonna strip too? Or was this a ploy to see my underwear?"

I grinned, beginning to move. "If I said yes, what would you do?"

She flushed but maintained eye contact. "Probably try and push you into the lake."

I chuckled, discarding my jeans on the blanket. "Come on, let's cool off."

We stepped in, both of us sighing as the calm water cooled our heated skin.

Millie swam beside me, her head tilting back as she sank down into the water, her eyelids drifting shut.

"Heaven," she murmured.

Yeah, you are.

My skin may have cooled but my blood felt like fire. A drop of water ran down her neck, hovering on the curve of one breast. The desire to lick it from her skin nearly overwhelmed me.

"Thank you, Ash."

I met her gaze, raising an eyebrow in question. "For?"

She lifted a hand, giving one lazy gesture to encompass the area. "This. It's given me an insight into who you are." Her head tilted, her lips curving into a teasing smile. "You're not all work, which is what I was expecting."

I shifted, coming to float beside her. "Would it kill the mood if you know I'll have to log on tonight and make up some time?"

She laughed, shaking her head. "I'll be doing the same. Such is the life of the boss, right?"
