"Miss Sharp, how can I help you today?"

Hannah Sharp had the kind of predatory gleam in her eye that made me immediately ill at ease. The woman was a piranha dressed in Chanel.

"Oh, Sheriff, you know you can call me Hannah. And I bought you some cookies." She handed me the wrapped plate.

I took it, immediately handing it over to Jason. Jason's eyes twinkled and he gave me that smirking, knowing grin. I made a face at him then turned back.

"Thank you, Miss Sharp, I'm sure my colleagues will enjoy them."

"Yes… well… I'll just pop in tomorrow to pick up the plate. What time would be-"

"Oh, no need." Jason interjected. "Just give me one minute and I'll have it back."

Before Hannah could protest, he took off, heading towards the breakroom.

I shoved my hands in my pockets, waiting awkwardly while Hannah attempted to make small talk. I noticed her complete avoidance of Drake and Dane, who both frowned at her.

"Here you go," Jason gallantly handed the plate back. "Better get in their quick, Sheriff. They're going fast."

"Perhaps," Hannah started but someone called my name from the bullpen.

"Sorry, duty calls. Thanks for the cookies." I told her, nodding to both her and the two men. I pivoted, beating a quick retreat.

I headed immediately to Caleb, finding him stuffing his mouth.

"Yo, Sheriff." He said around a mouth full of cookie. "This is your third delivery today."

Don't I know it.

I'd been back in town three months, most of that spent working out accommodation and trying to support my mother who was still grieving dad's loss. Then I'd run in the election for Sheriff, and now I was three weeks into the job and the baked goods didn't stop coming.

None of this was in the plan.

I ran a hand through my hair, not exactly displeased with my life, but certainly unsettled.

"Your girl called. She can't make today. Said she'll try and stop by tonight."

I hesitated. "I'm going to take myself off this case. You good to lead?"

Caleb's eyebrows raised in surprise. "Any particular reason?"

Because the woman looked good enough to eat last night? Because her outfit made me want to decorate her breasts with icing and lick it off? Because I jerked myself off three times to the thought of her?

"I know Honey personally." I answered casually. "Don't want that to be used against us."

"uh-huh." Caleb leaned back in his chair, a smirk on his lips. "You know she got a ride into work with Paulette today? They're neighbors."

Paulette was one of our best detectives. I filed that piece of info away for later.

Caleb glanced at his watch. "You know, it's nearly midday, Sheriff. And I know it was a late night for both of us but you're the idiot who chose to work the morning shift. How's about you head off early? We got this."

I glanced around, mentally tallying the work I still needed to do against my desire to see Honey.

"I might do that. I got a few loose ends to tie up first." I clasped Caleb on the shoulder. "Thanks."

"No problem." He winked at me. "And Honey works up on East Street, just in case you're wondering."

"Jesus, Caleb. At least try to be subtle about it. This isn't an episode of the Bachelor."
