He took Nia out on a group date, and then another. A few of his friends, a few of hers. Perfect gentleman both times.
He altered the original plan, but he says Nia is really skittish. Which makes sense. Toni keeps his daughters on very tight leashes. They aren’t allowed to date.
But Gris, slick fuck that he is, has convinced Nia to sneak out. Tonight.
That’s where I come in.
Gris hands me a set of keys with an H emblem. “A Honda?” I grumble, holding out the keys like they smell bad.
“Uber drivers don’t do pick-ups in Maseratis.” He slaps my shoulder. “You’re going to love the Accord. Roomy interior.”
I snort.
From inside the house, a loud banging against the wall interrupts our meeting. We both look up, knowing that Leo is screwing his wife against the wall.
“He’s got some serious thrusting power,” Gris says appreciatively, even as the chorus of Kim’s cries join the banging.
“Kim certainly thinks so,” I answer back.
Gris covers his smile with his hand. “Right. So, I’ll text you as soon as I tell her that I can’t pick her up because I’m running late and that I’m sending an Uber.”
That’s me. I’m the Uber. Only I’m not taking her to her date.
I’m taking her to a place in the desert and then I’m going to convince her to betray her father and marry me.
Yeah. If you’re thinking that I might lack the charm for this, you’d be right. But I’m going to have to dig deep and find a way.
And use every piece of information we’ve been able to glean to hopefully persuade her.
Because Toni Carcetti is going down and his daughter, Nia, is going to help me whether she likes it or not.

BONUS EPILOGUE
Bonus Epilogue:
Leo
One year later…
I should be asleep. It’s been in short order these days, and I should be catching up where I can, but I’m too wired to sleep.
Our little baby Abigail got her days and nights mixed up for close to a month. After a few days, Kim looked like a zombie.
That’s when we taught Abigail to use a bottle, and I took over half the night duty.
I’m used to late nights at the clubs, so I send Kim to bed early and then Abby and I hang out until two or three in the morning before Kim takes over.
She’s older now, four and half months, and sleeping better. But I still take care of the first feeding.
I love this time.
It’s dark, it’s quiet, and Abby is the sweetest thing that has ever existed on this entire planet. Except, of course, for her mother.
Abby’s got dark hair and dark eyes, but the doctor says that can change as she gets older. I’m hoping she’s a redhead like Kim.
Currently, Abby is lying against Kim’s side, tucked in the crook of her arm. It’s so beautiful that as I lie next to them, I can’t make myself close my eyes.
