“Where did she go?”
Rachel shrugs and suddenly my stomach drops. She wouldn’t, would she?
I jump up off the couch and hurry to the door, yanking it open.
But it is too late, she’s already made her move.
I slip back into my apartment, scurrying to the couch and pulling a blanket up over my body.
I am going to kill my sister.
Kill her!

“Expecting company?” Silas asks as the echoing sound of someone knocking drowns out the sports announcer on the T.V.
Asher kicks his feet up, resting them on my coffee table and Braxton grabs another slice of pizza out of the box next to his legs.
“Maybe it’s Gia,” Silas says chuckling.
“She’s probably still fuming from you dismissing her for your hot neighbor,” he adds.
“Or maybe it’s the hot neighbor,” Brax interrupts just as another knock echoes through the room.
“I’ll get it.” Hayes hurries for the door before I can stop him and pulls it open.
Just over his shoulder I can see the top of her head and wonder why in the hell Tori was outside my place. My first thought is one of these idiots parked in her sister’s spot and she was here to let me have it again.
“I thought we discussed the rules of dating Gray.” Hayes looks back over his shoulder. “Eighteen bud, they got to be eighteen.”
“Haha.” Tori fakes a deep imitating laugh as she stares at one of my best friends. I may not know the girl well, but I know her well enough to sense that she is about to verbally kick him in his nuts. “You should take your act on the road, you’re hilarious.”
“I’ll have you know that plenty think I’m funny.”
“If you’re referring to the pack of clowns behind you then that’s not saying much.” Hayes glances back arching a brow.
“Who is this kid?”
“And here I thought it was only the women in your life that were dumbasses.” Tori pushes passed him and enters my apartment. “But the male company seems to be even worse. Kinda makes the hyenas of the night seem smart.”
“Hyenas?” Fed asks, looking around the room.
“Your pal here brings home some doozies, but I’m sure the rest of you don’t do much better.”
“Wow.” Brax chuckles.
“Anyways I came over to ask you for a ride.” She ignores the guys and looks at me. “My sister agreed to let me paint my room but since she’s about to finish her first bottle of wine and is already popping the cork on the second, she can’t take me.”
I stare at the girl that has not once hidden her ill opinion of me.
“I’d call Vivian, but she’s on a date.” She uses air quotes when saying date. “I saw pictures of the guy and he looks like a goober so if she’s smart she’s about as drunk as my sister at this point. I’d have to be if I was forced to sit across from the Joe Dirt lookalike. Apparently she lost a bet, because I can’t think of any other reason why she’d show up for that one.” Tori rolls her eyes.
“So I figured after all the nights you’ve kept me up with the thumping of your headboard on the wall, you kind of owe me.”
“What the fuck?” Fed whispers, but not too quickly.
