Eventually, we both came down from the heights of orgasmic passion we had ascended together. I held her to me, reveling in the fluttering aftershocks of her countless orgasms as we both struggled to catch our breath. I helped her get down from her position, straddling me, and pulled her against my chest, holding her close.
Just as the sound of thunderous applause echoed throughout the room from the doorway.
Maddy gave a little shriek, trying to cover herself. In an instant, I was on high alert, pulling a pillow from behind my head to shield her naked body from whoever the fuck had dared to walk into the playroom unannounced and uninvited.
I mentally scolded myself for not locking the damn door and for not being more aware of my surroundings. Heart thundering, I looked towards the entrance to see none other than our long absent brother Carrick standing there, leaning against the now closed door with a dastardly smirk on his smug fucking face.
“Well, that’s hands down the best welcome home I’ve ever received.”
With a gasp, Maddy shifted the pillow lower, allowing her to see exactly who stood there at the door.
That motherfucker. I was going to pummel his ass — just as soon as I recovered from the unbelievable fucking orgasm she had just pulled out of me, like a siren ripping a man’s soul out of his body. That was a fitting description of her, honestly. A beautiful, tempting siren.
“Carrick. Good to see you… pervy as you always are,” I chuckled under my breath, with no small amount of annoyance.
Maddy struggled beside me, yanking at the covers that would not budge under our weight. By the time she got enough material free to cover herself more completely, the door had shut with a firm thud, leaving her and me alone together again.
“What the hell was that about?” she asked in a seething, hushed whisper.
I pressed my forehead to hers, pulling her close.
“Princess, the shenanigans are just getting started.”
Epilogue
Nikolai
Things had died downafter the big fight at the compromised safe house. We were working through the kinks of our new relationship — pun intended — as well as developing a more stable dynamic.
Having Carrick back at the house had only made things more complicated, something I was already annoyed with. Maddy seemed to delight in a new person to tease and brat at, and I had to admit, that had been hilarious to watch. Carrick needed someone to keep him on his toes, that was for damn sure.
“Hey, Niko,” Deacon pulled me aside as Carrick began cleaning up from yet another delicious dinner, courtesy of Sully. He deserved it, after having missed clean-up duty for so fucking long during his most recent absence. Plus, the fact that the fucker announced his arrival by walking in on Maddy and me — on purpose, I had found out later — guaranteed that I felt no remorse for the man.
“What’s up, brother?” I stepped to the side at Deacon’s request.
He hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath and spoke. “Listen, I think you need to make a phone call.”
His statement was confusing, to say the least. “You’re gonna have to give me more than that, Deacon.”
“With everything that happened at that safe house, and with as serious as things are getting between you and Maddy, I really think the time for hidin’ things is over.” He pinned me with a knowing look, and I suddenly understood exactly what he was getting at.
“You’re not wrong, brother,” I agreed with a sigh. I’d been putting this off for a while now.
“I rarely am,” he shot back with a smile. Deacon didn’t often show his humor, but when he did, it came swiftly and completely out of the blue.
“Alright, alright. I’ll give Quinn a call tomorrow and fill him in on everything,” I conceded. “But right now, I’ve got a game of Go Fish to win.”
“We both know you ain’t gonna win. Jax is too good for any of us to win, unless it’s just a sheer stroke of luck, like my win the other night.”
“I don’t really care about winning. Ido, however, care about beating Maddy.”
“I think you beat Maddy plenty already,” he teased me with a wink and a clap of his hand on my shoulder. “But I think you should go ahead and call Quinn now. Just get it over with and have it behind you.”
“Ugh, you’re right,” I groaned, realizing the truth in his words.
“We already established that I’m rarely wrong, buddy,” he teased with a knowing look.
“Did you just call me buddy?” I asked, feigning shock and dismay at his words.
