Peter sighs. "And your mother?"

I wince. Fuck….

"Doesn't like my relationship with your daughter. She sent Brook to my room, hoping for this outcome." The club door opens again, and my dad walks over to me. I shake my head and ask, "Is she with you, Peter?"

He clears his throat. "She went for a ride with her momma. Look, son, I like you; you know I do." My dad furrows his brows, hearing Peter's voice, while Snake bites his bottom lip. “And I will ensure she doesn't give up on your relationship, but let her momma do her magic right now. She'll help her realize it most likely isn't what she thought."

I drop my chin to my chest and utter, "I don't know if I can do that…."

My dad grips my shoulder as Peter sighs and whispers, "I know it's hard, son, but we both know she has struggled to let anyone in. This has knocked her for a lopp, and I think only her momma will be able to get through to her."

I shake my head. "She's supposed to be going to Cali for a week, Peter, on that vet course. I, fuck, I can't…."

My dad grips my shoulder tighter as Snake grips my bike's handlebars.

Peter sighs. "I know, son, but the space will help clear her head, and with her momma's words, she'll be back with you when she gets back."

I drop my chin to my chest and murmur, "Alright, just, fuck, tell her I love her, yeah," before hanging up.

"It's going to be alright, son," my dad rasps.

I shake my head, a sickening feeling hitting me, and I whisper, "I made her my old lady, yet Momma brought Nina here; she sent Brook to my room." I look at my father. "What the fuck is wrong with her?"

Snake shakes his head as my father squeezes his eyes shut and says, "I don't know, son."

With a sigh, I drop my head back, looking at the blue sky.

Snake speaks up and rasps, "You know Carol will have to be punished for this, Eagle. I didn't know Brook was an old lady, dickhead here hadn't told me yet. I'm lifting Brook's ban from the club."

Dad sighs but nods and rasps, "I think some time away from the club will do that woman some good," before squeezing my shoulder.

I feel like I can’t fucking breathe. I need to leave.

I turn my bike on and rev it.

Looking at my dad, I state, "I'm going for a ride. I don't want to see Momma for a little while, and I know if I go in the ring, I won't be coming out unless I'm knocked out."

He nods, stepping back, and Snake furrows his brows, looking at me with concern. I ignore him and spin out of my space, and out of the club parking lot, wondering how I can go from sappy happy in love, to my girl running from me.

If Brook thinks she can leave me, then she has another think coming. I won't allow her to distance herself from me.

I fucking can't.

I smile as I climb out of my truck, holding the door open as my brother slides out with the biggest grin.

I shake my head. Because he’s here, the boy is acting like it's his birthday and Christmas all in one and not like he nearly burnt the flipping house down.

"Alright, remember, please behave," I say sternly.

He grins. "I will, don't worry, sissy. I don't think they have any fireworks here anyway, though wouldn't it be cool to set some off in that big room."

My eyes widen. "Oliver!"

He shrugs and walks over to the front door of the clubhouse. Groaning, I shut the truck door and follow him. Honestly, he's seven, and a nightmare. I don't know how my parents have coped with his daredevil ways, or even understand where he got them from.
