With that, he hangs up, and I grin, shaking my head, before sighing as Matty sits.

I look at him, and he grins wide, his eyes dilated, and I cock a brow. "Seriously? I tell you your nose was bleeding, and your solution was to snort more coke?"

He opens and closes his mouth a few times before clearing his throat. "I, uh, had an idea. This place blows. Why don't we go back to my place where we can get comfortable."

He smirks, his eyes looking me up and down again, ignoring the coke comment, and I sigh.

What a jackass.

Grabbing my bag, I stand up and offer him a smile. He grins, thinking I'm giving in, but his grin soon disappears with my next words.

"Actually, I'm going home." Turning, I take a step to leave but I quickly turn and state, "Oh, by the way, Daddy says you're fired. And before you threaten a lawsuit, he's already fully aware of your coke habit."

With that said, I walk away, eager to head home. Tomorrow, I've got two pregnant cows to check on before the clinic opens, with three dogs, five cats, a guinea pig on the books, and whatever else gets called in during the day.

Stepping to the side to miss some woman who tumbles toward me, dodging her drink that's splashing everywhere, I nearly bumped into a group of drunk men, but a hard body knocks into me, making me gasp.

I lose my footing. The ridiculous heels Josy swore I had to wear tonight tilt as my body follows by toppling foot. I squeeze my eyes shut, ready for the impact, when two large, strong hands grip my biceps tightly, stopping my fall.

A thousand tingles shoot down my arms, making my stomach tighten.

I look up, expecting to make eye contact with someone, but my eyes make contact with a broad chest instead, and I swallow hard, my pulse racing. The person is wearing a wife beater and one of those MC cuts. My head doesn't even reach his broad shoulders.

Very slowly, I lift my head, about to politely ask him to let go, the tingling sensation scaring the crap out of me, when I make eye contact with the deepest ocean blue eyes, and my memory hits me hard from all those years ago. Everything disappears around me, and he's all I can see.

I have the urge to run my fingers through scruffy blonde hair, and then through his five o'clock shadow jaw, just like I did twelve years ago.

He squeezes my arms before letting go, and I swallow hard, stepping back a little bit. I open and close my mouth several times, trying to thank him for catching me, but nothing is coming out.

I'm speechless….

He clears his throat and rasps, "Are you alright?"

Oh God, his voice. Deep, rumbly, and wow…. I squeeze my legs a little, my clit throbbing, something I've never felt before.

I swallow hard and whisper, "Y-yes, um, uh, thank you."

He nods, his eyes staring into mine like he could see right down to my soul, sending shivers down my body. I clear my throat and give him a small smile, before walking away, hoping the sensation will disappear.

As I get outside, I check my phone and see my Uber is still five minutes away. I sigh, rocking on my heels, waiting. I can hear the music flow from the bar behind me as the door opens, and my body tingles again, confusing me.

What was that feeling I felt?

What does it mean?

It's the same sensation I had when I was fourteen, and the brother who helped me up off the cafeteria floor touched my hand. The man whose eyes I looked into for the first time in years.

Shaking my head, I sigh, checking my phone again a few minutes later to see the Uber has been delayed for another five minutes, making me groan. Suddenly, a figure stands next to me, and I still. I know it's not Matty; he had his eyes on some woman in the back of the bar, not realizing I knew his eyes were wandering. And let's face it, he's not the kind of man to run after a girl.

"Do you need a ride?" his deep voice asks softly, making me jump. I swallow hard before looking up at him.

God, he's gorgeous….

I give him a small smile. "Thanks, but I have an Uber coming."

He raises a brow, tilting his head. "You know they aren't exactly safe."

I snort. "You sound like my dad."
