I try to ignore the reaction and return to the conversation before me. Reggie rubs a soothing thumb along my bare shoulder, having sensed my momentary stress. I smile at him in thanks and rest my head on his shoulder for a second.
“You have a baby girl, right?” I ask the woman next to me, Winnie. She sits next to a hulk of a man who watches her very intently. If his eyes didn’t soften every time she looked back at him, I’d find it kind of scary how closely he watches her.
“Yes! Tonight’s my first true night without her. I feel naked without her strapped to my chest.”
“I’m sure! Where is she?”
“With Bull’s mom. You met her at the club last week. Maggie. Remember her?”
I nod, picturing the older woman. When I met her, I remember thinking how sweet she seemed, how she most definitely didn’t look like a biker’s wife.
“Maggie’s her mom, too, right?” I point towards the younger girl named Claudia, trying to piece the entire family tree in my alcohol-muddled brain without Tiny’s helpful whispers in my ear.
Claudia must have heard me or sensed us talking about her cause she chirps in. “Yep! Although sometimes it’s debatable if I claim to be his sibling,” she thumbs towards Bull, who smirks at her comment.
Lilah, Ringer’s wife, who I really liked when we met, sits with a blonde-haired knockout that she introduced me to as her BFF, Sparrow. All of these women are gorgeous. It’s like there is a pretty law that takes effect here. The men have to be good-looking, and their women have to be equally hot to be a part of the club. I laugh to myself at the revelation.
I’m introduced to a few more women that I haven’t gotten to meet yet, praying like hell I’ll remember all their names the next time we meet.
Lyric is a beautiful black woman who, I’m almost positive, was just shaking her very voluptuous naked ass on the stage, but my eyes could be playing tricks on me.
Brenna and her mother-in-law sit across the low table from Reggie and me. A man I remember from the night of Ringer’s arrest sits on the other side of Lilah, with a woman named Sasha sitting across his lap. I’m pretty sure Reaper is Lilah’s dad, but I could be wrong.
Hell, this is hard. I really need Tiny to draw a map for me.
Most of the women who ‘belong’ to this club are here, save Maggie and I think Pebbles, the one who has twins that I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet. Brit seems to be missing, too, but Winnie says she has a five-year-old at home with no childcare, so she couldn’t come.
After about another hour of mindless conversation and way too many shots, Winne and Bull excuse themselves, something about Winnie’s tits being full or something.
Kinky.
My phone vibrates against my ass cheek, and I pry it out of my pocket. Reggie laughs over my shoulder when he sees Tiny’s reply to my picture right when I do. I close one eye to control the blur and focus on his text.
Tiny: You’re going to pay for that later, honey. Just you wait.
“I’d pay to be a fly on the wall when he gets his hands on you,” Reggie waggles his brows at me, causing me to laugh out loud. Emma’s eyes jump to us, and she smiles happily.
She seems to hit it off with another hulky hunk named Tex, who I’m pretty sure is the guy Tiny has been friends with for a long time. I can’t help but notice her constant blush and her finger twirling in her hair like a schoolgirl. Sigh.
The cackle that busts out of me alerts me that I must be drunk. Damn.
Which, unfortunately, reminds me that I have to pee.
Pushing off the chair, using Reggie as a guide, I successfully make it to my feet. I barely make it two steps when I realize just how drunk I really am. I shake it off and put one foot in front of the other towards the bathroom. At least, I hope this is the way to the bathroom.
I stumble down a dark hallway and stop, looking around before realizing I’m in the hallway that holds the private rooms for dances. A few of the rooms are wide open, so it’s clear I’m in the wrong place. I spin on my heel to go down the other hallway when I’m grabbed by the arm and pushed into one of the private rooms.
“Hey!” I yell back at the brute that shoved me in here.
I sober immediately and can feel the color drain from my face as I come face to face with Matt.
The idiot left the door wide open. I move to step around him, but I truly am too drunk to get around him fast enough. He catches me by the arm again and slams me up against the wall right next to the open door. I can only hope that someone passes by and realizes we’re not supposed to be here or that someone needs the room because there’s no way that I’m strong enough to break free of his hold.
Chapter 24
Evie
What the hell is Matt doing here? I think as soon as I see him walk down the hallway where Kourtney just disappeared from view.
