Excitement fizzes in my blood as I plug in the new puzzle pieces. There’s no way the police can ignore this lead.

The only question is, how do I deliver it to them without bringing the Rockford family into it? Because I don’t need to ask to know that drawing the police’s attention is a big no-no, and I’m no longer so willing to die.

When Damien swoops into the office with the pizza, my stomach rumbles in response to the savory scent.

Leo snatches the box and waves him back out of the room. He flips back the top, revealing the steaming pie inside, and holds it out to me. “Have some. I can hear your hunger from over here.”

Grateful for his generosity, I try not to shift too quickly as I take a slice, mozzarella stretching in long, gooey strings before snapping free.

Leo grabs two slices, sandwiches them together, and takes a bite big enough to puff out his cheeks.

“How did you meet Nolan?” I ask between bites, ravenous now that appetizing food sits in front of me.

Leo swallows and licks the grease from his lip with a delighted groan. “I was working at Nolan’s club, Velvet Oasis. He saved me from a persistent customer who wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.”

He blushes as he adds, “Things progressed from there.”

I take a second slice when Leo offers. “What was it like being courted by a Rockford?”

A dreamy smile spreads over Leo’s face as he talks about Nolan between mouthfuls, and I watch in amazement as the small Omega inhales the rest of the pizza by himself. I guess that’s either the power of eating for two or a sign of how much Leo misses greasy food.

Damien strides back into the office. “We need to head back, Leo, before Nolan tracks you down when you’re supposed to be resting.”

Leo huffs in annoyance. “I’ve had enough of Nolan’s over-protectiveness.”

Despite his protests, a fond smile graces his lips when he speaks about his fiancé, and a pang of jealousy twists in my chest. I can only hope to someday have someone who smiles like that when thinking of me.

I rise carefully, my ass clenching, and take the empty box from Leo as Damien helps him stand from the chair. Leaving it on the desk, I follow them to the front of the house, grateful for Leo’s pregnancy waddle, which forces him to move slowly. It gives me the perfect excuse to shuffle in an attempt to not shift the plug around too much.

Caleb joins us in the living room and hugs Leo goodbye while shooting his brother a stern frown out of the small Omega’s view.

Damien rolls his eyes before looking at me. “See you later, little bunny.”

It’s clear he still doesn’t trust Caleb to contain me and would rather see me gone from his twin’s house.

As soon as the door closes behind them, Caleb pulls me close, his breath warm against my ear. “You better not be seeing Damien without me present.”

My pulse quickens at the jealousy behind the words, and I rise onto my toes to wrap my arms around Caleb’s neck. “I have no interest in your brother.”

“Keep it that way.” He captures my lips, the kiss hard with a hint of jealousy, and desire stirs in me.

How many times has Caleb felt interchangeable with his identical twin? If so, I will spend the rest of my life ensuring he knows all I see is him.

Caleb pulls back to fix me with a narrow look. “I can taste the pepperoni on your tongue, Oliver.”

“Hey, I appreciated your culinary efforts, but I couldn’t say no when Leo offered a slice.” My hands settle on his strong shoulders. “And I’ll still eat the scramble you made. But for future reference, I don’t like eggs.”

Caleb studies my face, searching for a sign of deceit. “You were carrying eggs when you came home to your apartment.”

I shrug, enjoying the warmth that emanates from his body. “They were on sale, and I use them to bulk up other things. But as a main flavor component? Not so much.”

“You bought eggs for omelets your first day here,” he argues.

“I thought the price would make them tolerable.” I shake my head. “It did not.”

“Okay, I’ll remember for next time.” His brow arches. “So no goose egg Benedict with Beluga caviar and gold flake?”
