“You do?” I ask, hating how uncertain I sound.

“Of course I do, baby.” His lips quirk up in a playful grin. “I want to scandalize the town with public displays of affection and everything.”

“I think we already accomplished that last one.”

“Does this mean you want to see me again?”

“Yes,” I admit softly. “I’d like to see you again.”

Bash’s smile could power a small city. He leans in, brushing a tender kiss across my lips. “Then let’s make it happen. I have to head back to Barton Beach, but I’ll call you. We’ll figure this out.”

“Okay,” I agree, warmth blooming in my chest.

We say our goodbyes and I give him my number, watching him stride off to his truck with a spring in his step.

Already I’m counting down the minutes until I can see him again, until I can be back in his arms.

The next morning, I slowly blink awake, squinting against the sunlight streaming through my bedroom window.

For a moment, I’m disoriented, wondering why I feel so deliciously sore.

Then the memories of last night come flooding back - Bash’s hands, his mouth, the way he made me come undone over and over...

A satisfied smile curls my lips as I stretch languidly, relishing the pleasurable ache between my thighs. Proof that it wasn’t just a dream.

Shaking myself from my reverie, I force myself to get out of bed, wincing slightly at the twinge between my legs. I grab my silk robe and pad to the kitchen, in desperate need of caffeine.

As I wait for the coffee to brew, my phone buzzes with an incoming call from Lisa. I debate letting it go to voicemail, but I find myself eager to talk to someone about this monumental shift in my life.

“Hey Lisa,” I greet, unable to keep the giddy undercurrent from my voice.

“Ooh, someone sounds chipper today. I take it the date went well?”

I can’t keep the huge grin off my face. “It was... amazing,” I confess, biting my lip as I recall every delicious detail.

“Amazing? That’s all you’re going to give me?”

I take a deep breath, steeling myself. “We had sex,” I blurt out. “In my car.”

There’s a moment of stunned silence on the other end of the line. Then -

“You did what?!” Lisa shrieks. “Oh my gosh, Melissa! I can’t believe it! Was it good?”

My cheeks heat at the memory of Bash’s talented hands and wicked mouth. “It was the best sex of my life,” I admit, unable to keep the dreamy sigh from my voice. “He made me feel things I didn’t even know were possible.”

Lisa lets out an excited squeal. “I knew it! I freaking knew you two would be explosive together. So what happens now? Are you going to see him again?”

I pause, biting my lip. This is the part that scares me, the part that has anxiety clawing at my throat. “He wants to,” I reveal softly. “But I don’t know You know my track record with men. They always end up leaving me in the end.”

“Hey, none of that,” Lisa chides gently. “Bash isn’t like those other assholes. He’s one of the good ones. And he’d be crazy not to see how amazing you are.”

Tears prick at the back of my eyes at her words. “You really think so?”

“I know so,” Lisa states with conviction. “You deserve to be happy, Melissa. You deserve a man who will cherish you and treat you right. And from the sounds of it, Bash could be that man.”

I swallow hard past the lump of emotion in my throat. “Thanks, girl. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“You’ll never have to find out,” she vows. “I’ll always be here to talk sense into you. Now, quit stalling and tell me every single detail about this car sex. I want to know positions, orgasm count, dirty talk, the works!”
