For someone who doesn’t make hasty decisions, getting married overnight is something else.
I can’t sleep on a sofa forever, and she’s going to have to accept that. Tonight, we sleep in the same bed, whether she likes it or not.
I get lost in my work until I hear Alfie say, “Sorry, boss, she insisted on seeing you.”
Arina walks into my office and looks around. “It’s nice in here.”
“Glad you approve.” I rub my stubble again. “Come to start arguing early.”
Arina turns to Alfie. “Please give us a moment.”
Alfie looks at me, and I give him a nod before I stand up and walk to the other side of my desk, leaning on it, crossing one leg over the other, and crossing my arms.
“I have a proposal,” Arina says, lowering herself into a chair and crossing her legs. Yvonne chose the clothes well, and they extenuated her curves nicely.
“There is no negotiating this marriage, Arina. The sooner you come to accept that, the better.” I look down at her. “We are bound to each other. Marriage means a lot to our family. We don’t just leave our spouses.”
“I’m not saying we get divorced,” she says, which makes me quirk an eyebrow.
“Then what does your proposal involve?” I ask.
“I want to get back at my half-brothers,” she says quietly. “They lived a life of luxury while my mother was chased away, and I landed up growing up in a shit environment with strangers. I want them to pay.”
This announcement comes as a complete shock. I’ve always known the Milovs to put family first. For them to have turned away a half-sister changes things in ways I will have to think about.
“Your half-brothers don’t want anything to do with you?” I ask curiously. “Then what could you honestly propose to me?”
“I want revenge, and I know you hate them. We can get revenge together and both be satisfied.” She stands so I’m not looking that far down on her.
“It’s the perfect plan,” she says. “Do we have a deal?” She holds out her hand.
“Only if you act like a wife and learn the ways of the family,” I say. “You’re already a part of us. We may as well teach you the ropes.”
“Fine, I’ll shake on it. My word is good.” She keeps her hand held out.
I take it and pull her to me. “A kiss to seal the deal.”
She looks up at me with those intense blue eyes, and I lower my head and kiss her deeply.
We both close our eyes and lean into the kiss. I wrap my arms around her as she rests her hands on my broad chest. I can feel my dick start to harden at the thought of bending her over the desk and taking her. A little moan escapes her, and I groan back when suddenly there’s a knock at the door.
We pull away, me more reluctantly than she does. She moves quickly to put distance between us.
I grumble and look at the door. “What is it, Matvey?”
“It’s the resort. It’s worse than what I originally thought. We’re missing hundreds of thousands of dollars.” He walks straight to me with the reports.
I got interrupted for this. Fuck.
“We’ll go there today.” I look at Arina for a moment before I look back at Matvey. “I’m going to take a shower and shave. Have the servants pack a suitcase for me.”
“Yes, Igor,” my brother says before leaving.
Arina hangs around. She seems a little awkward.
“I won’t be gone long. Then we can look into what we can do for the Milovs,” I promise her.
“I want to go with you. To the resort.” She looks up at me. “If you want me to learn the way of your family, you can’t leave me behind to play housewife all day.”
