“I love you, my mate.”
My lips crash against hers, and then I feel her walls begin to flutter around my length. She cries out against my mouth, and I can’t hold back anymore. I bellow my release as I fall over the edge with her.
Stars dot my vision and I clench my teeth against the intensity of it.
Pain lances through my back, and I look down at Elora’s wide eyes as two very large wings tear from my body.
The pain is nothing compared to the pleasure I experience in her arms, and I raise myself up on an arm to look down at her.
Her cheeks are flushed, and her lips are red and swollen. Her hair fans the furs around us, and I let out a shaky sigh as I behold my mate.
She’s the most unlikely thing that could have ever happened to me, and I look at her in awe. Her beauty overwhelms me, and I swallow the lump in my throat.
She was mine.
Our breath mingles as we both come down, but I don’t soften within her. My heart thuds in my chest, but I begin to move within her again, smirking when her eyes go wide.
“Again?” she asks huskily.
I nod, pulling out of her to turn her to her stomach before I sink back into her, hissing as her heat surrounds me.
The moisture from both our releases eases my passage, and the sounds between us are glorious, spurring me onwards.
“Again.” I growl, lowering myself over her to plant hot kisses along her spine.
“I’m not even close to done with you.”
Elora
Amon lay next to me, his strong arms wrapped around me. I trace the markings along his chest leisurely. His new wings twitch behind him, and he hisses.
“Do they hurt?” I ask, reaching up to run a finger over the arch of one. The feathers were a sleek black. Watching his ascension was breathtaking, and it had caused an ache deep in my heart. I didn’t think I could love him any more than I did at that moment.
“A little bit.” he says softly, placing a kiss against the top of my head. “It will pass.”
I look up at him, searching his eyes. The shadows no longer filled his vision, and when he looks at me all I see is exactly what I feel for him.
Love.
I return my attention to the runes decorating his chest. “You know, you never told me what these meant.”
I run my finger against the rune directly over his heart.
He grasps my hand, raising it to my lips before lowering my fingertips to run them over the rune again.
“This one is for my rank.” He adjusts, moving my hand over to the side of his chest to run my fingertips over another. “This one is for my powers.”
He releases my hand, and I flatten my palm against his chest, leaning in to brush my lips against his skin.
He groans, running his claws through my hair, holding me to him.
I wrap my arms around him the best I can, melding my body against his.
We were mated.
It was done.
Trepidation flows through me briefly, but I dash it away.
