We stare at each other for another moment, something shifting in our relationship that scares me.

“I love you,” I choke out. The overwhelming sense I’m losing her makes my throat ache.

“And I love you.”

Devon

I’ve been avoiding her all day. Lying on the bed, staring up at the ceiling as the hours tick by. She knocked on the door asking if I wanted lunch, but I didn’t answer. I’m stuck on what I want to do because I don’t want to live without her, but each day watching her with Mike is suffocating.

As the light dims with the setting sun, I roll off the bed and go search for Cami. I can’t make a decision without talking to her. She’s folding laundry on her bed when I find her. She smiles up at me when I walk in the room, but it quickly falls when she takes in my face.

“What’s wrong?”

I lick my drying lips. “Me or him, Cami?”

She jerks back, dropping the shirt in her hands on the floor. “What?”

“I can’t keep waiting. Me or him?”

Cami shakes her head in quick jerks, blinking furiously as if to hold back tears. “No, no, no, no.”

I grind my teeth as she keeps chanting the same word, crossing my arms as I stare down at her. “Make a choice or I’ll make one for you.”

Her eyebrows furrow. “What?” She breathes out.

“I’ll make the choice for you,” I say.

Her mouth slacks open as her watery eyes meet mine. “What does that mean?”

The fear in her eyes makes my stomach twist a bit, realizing she thinks I’m alluding to murdering her husband. I drop my clenched fists to my sides in annoyance.

“I’ll take you and we’ll leave this place behind. Start somewhere new.”

Her phone beeps and both our heads turn to the nightstand where it’s charging. The red hue of the alarm clock is like a warning of how little time I have to grab her if we’re going to leave tonight.

I watch the calculating look in her eyes, and mine narrow in suspicion. “Me or him, Cami. Choose or we leave now.”

“No,” she snaps out. The loud vibrating of her phone annoys me more because I know who’s calling her.

“Then I’ll make it for you. Grab anything you can’t live without and let’s go.”

Cami’s chest falls and rises in quick pants before she scrambles onto the bed, stretching to grab her phone. I climb over, swatting at the device so it flies off the mattress. It vibrates for another few seconds before falling silent.

“Devon!” she screeches. I grip the back of her neck, pushing her face into the soft comforter as I reach between us and drag her dress up in quick pulls. She squirms, trying to buck me off. “He’s going to be home any minute!”

“Good!” I seethe, finding the side of her panties and ripping them off her. “Then he can watch me take what belongs to me.”

If she doesn’t want to leave peacefully, then I will make the choice of showing her husband exactly who the woman is lying in his bed.

Cami tries to shake her head. “No, no, no…”

My knee digs between her legs, wrenching them open for my fingers to swipe along her wet slit. “You’re saying no, but you’re fucking drenched for me, baby.”

Her body shudders and then stiffens as the click of the front door unlocking echoes throughout the house. “Get off,” she says desperately.

I push two of my fingers into her tight pussy. She lets out a breathy gasp before biting down on her lips.

“Cami? Devon?” Mike yells. I’m sure he’s confused about finding an empty living room and kitchen.
