Cameron shrugged. “Call it an instinct. Aside from that greenhouse, which I know means a lot to her, I’m betting there’s either some things Ocean left behind because she assumed she’d be living there again, or something Frank and Laura want to throw at her, either to be hurtful or wash their hands of her. Regardless, I want them to understand that we don’t make idle threats.”

“No arguments from me. Just be careful of the flowers. Don’t move those without talking to her.”

Cameron nodded.

I sent a message to my assistant and told them what had happened, and to let the other assistants know to cover everything for a few more days. Despite what had caused Ocean’s unexpected heat, this was perfect timing. Since we’d just come back, there weren’t any real meetings scheduled. We could take whatever time we needed.

I texted Raina.

Everett

Ocean went into heat. We’ll be out for a few days. Don’t worry, you’ll still be a part of the takedown. Keep an eye on things?

Raina

Will do. Have fun.

Straight and to the point, like Raina always was. We owed her more than we could ever repay, though I had an idea about that. It needed to be discussed after the heat.

I let Marcella know so there would be food we didn’t need to prepare. Also food that was easily portable. I was glad the nest had been completed, so it was ready for this. If she’d doubted us on top of not feeling her place of safety…

The sight of her doubt already made my heart hurt. But that might have broken me completely.

Micah’s hand came up behind Ocean’s head, holding her to him as he shifted a touch more upright. She didn’t move. “She’s out,” he said softly.

“I know we were already going to take action against Frank, but I’m going to have a hard time not—” I huffed a breath. They’d heard my threats when I was in the middle of punching him.

My Omega’s face was still fucking red from where he’d hit her.

“You’re not the only one,” Cameron said. We’d stopped on the way out of the house and taken the security footage with the help of Frank’s housekeeper. She didn’t hold much loyalty to them, which was another strike against him. But we held all the proof we needed to show why my hitting him was justified.

Actually, that was something Raina should know.

Everett

Frank hit Ocean. I knocked him out and we got her out of there, but can you let legal know in case he tries to do something? We have video footage.

Raina

Are you serious?

Everett

Very.

It looked like she was typing and deleting for about a minute.

Raina

As much as I would like to say otherwise, I’m glad you kept it to just that. I’ll make sure legal knows. If you can get the footage to us that would be great.

Everett

Oren will have it.

“Send the footage to Oren,” I said. “So Raina can get ahead of me punching the shit out of him with legal.”

There wasn’t a leg to stand on. He’d physically assaulted our wife. And if that wasn’t enough, she was our Omega. The instincts to protect an Omega—especially a scent matched Omega—outweighed almost everything else.
