He increased his pace, slamming into her with a force that matched her urgency. His lips trailed down her cheekbone as she gasped, her body tightening even more around him.
Their passion intensified, her pleasure evident in the way she writhed beneath him. Xander’s rhythm grew faster, his need to bring her to the brink of ecstasy overpowering everything else. Her hands gripped him tightly, her waist stiffening as she neared the edge.
Xander continued his movements, determined to push her over. He smiled as she sucked in a breath and let out a soundless gasp, her body shaking with release.
He drove deeper into her, his own climax building as her orgasm tightened around him. Groaning, he collapsed atop her, waves of pleasure blinding him.
He rolled off her, his breath ragged as he stared deeply into her eyes. “You’re clean, Rayla,” he whispered.
This time, instead of tears, she smiled and closed her eyes. Xander moved briefly to retrieve the diamond necklace from his suit pocket, placing it around her neck.
He gazed into her eyes, preparing to say the words he’d longed to utter. She clutched the jewelry, looking at it and then at him in wonder.
“I love you, Rayla. I never stopped, and I never will.”
Rayla sniffled, raising her hand to his cheek. She pulled him toward her and kissed his lips softly. “I love you too, Xander, and I always will.”
But he wasn’t finished. He kissed her neck, his hands gliding down her body, reigniting the flames of their passion. His mouth found her breasts again, his tongue circling her nipples as his hands explored the soft skin of her thighs. He could feel her trembling beneath him, her desire rekindled.
“Xander,” she moaned, her hands tangling in his hair as he kissed his way down her body. He settled between her legs, his tongue teasing her sensitive flesh. Her hips bucked against him, her moans growing louder as he brought her to the edge once more.
He moved back up, kissing every inch of her skin until he was hovering over her again. She pulled him into a deep kiss, her body arching towards him in need.
“Take me, Xander,” she whispered, her voice a husky plea.
He didn’t need further encouragement. He entered her again, their bodies moving together in a rhythm that spoke of love and healing. The world outside ceased to exist; there was only the two of them, connected in a way that transcended words.
Their lovemaking continued, slow and sensual, then fast and passionate, shifting between rhythms that mirrored their need for each other. Xander reveled in the feel of her, the taste of her, the sound of her pleasure as he brought her to climax again and again.
Rayla's cries of ecstasy filled the room, each one a testament to the bond they were forging. Xander felt her pleasure echoing in his own body, each wave of her release drawing him closer to his own.
When they finally reached the peak together, their bodies tensed and then relaxed in a shared moment of pure bliss. Xander held her close, their breaths mingling as they slowly came down from their high.
“I love you, Rayla,” he whispered, his lips brushing against her temple. “I’ll always love you.”
“I love you too, Xander,” she replied, her voice filled with emotion. “Always.”
They lay there, tangled in each other’s arms, the world outside forgotten. In that moment, they were all that mattered, their love a beacon of hope and healing in the midst of the darkness that had once threatened to consume them.
Chapter 20 - Rayla
“Bye, Mom, I’ll see you later.”
Abel ran up to her enthusiastically, carrying a small, black duffel bag. He placed a gentle kiss on her cheek and offered her a big smile she couldn’t help but return.
She looked him over. They had not been here for up to two months and yet, it seemed like he had grown in the time that he spent here.
Rayla was grateful to Xander and to the pack for the transformation she could see in her son. Everything about him had changed since they were there. The best of all was that he was happier.
Now that Abel had his father in his life and the male guidance she could never provide for him no matter how much she tried, he was no longer angry.
There was no one to bully him here, instead, he was given the respect that every alpha deserved. It did not matter that he was yet to be the alpha. Ever since the day that he transformed and the Elders accepted him as their own, effectively accepting her too, the two of them had been well-respected in the pack.
What’s more, he had friends. Friends who had no ulterior motives for wanting to speak with him, who did not try to slander Rayla or try to push him so they could get a reaction out of him. That was what she had always wanted for him and now, it seemed like such a long time ago when he was back in the village and people could never just let him be.
Rayla was happy to see that he had put everything about the village behind him. He always seemed angry each time they had conversations about the people of the village but now, things were different.
The last time they spoke about it, he had smiled and even laughed, although he did not have much to say nor did he want to dwell on the topic, which was completely fine by her. If only it was that easy for her to let go of all the years of pain and rejection from the villagers and her parents.
