“We're here.” He looked at her and noticed her nervousness. “Hey.”He held her hand. “It's okay. I got you.”
She swallowed and nodded with a smile.
Asher got out of the car, circled over to her side, and opened the door.
Esme placed one leg out, and his mouth watered at the sight of the tasteful thigh-high slit, elegantly showcasing her alluring leg.
“Wow,” he whispered and stretched out a hand.
She took it and stepped out. Heads turned as they walked toward the entrance. As they neared the fancy doors, their attention drifted to the sound of someone calling his wife.
“Esme?” The lady seemed unsure if the woman she was looking at was indeed Esme.
She'd never been to the city before, so who the hell knew her here?
His wife turned and faced the lady.
“Oh my God, it is you.” Shock flickered in the lady's gaze.
He saw the rage in Esme’seyes immediately as she turned to this lady and hoped that she would not do something drastic. He figured it must have been someone from her former town.
“Hello, Erin,” Esme smirked, graciously walking over to her as the lady checked her out from head to toe.
She was obviously flabbergasted by the woman she saw.
“You… You look… Different.” The lady swallowed. “Your father told us that he'd finally gotten rid of you, but… From the way I see it, it was you who finally got rid of him… Of us.”
Esme halted before her without a word.
“What you said to me that day last year… About growing up,” the lady said. “It got to me, and I…” She swallowed, obviously uncomfortable by Esme's gaze. “I've been meaning to apologize to you since that day, but I haven't been able to summon the courage to do so.” She sighed. “I'm so sorry, Esme. I was a child, and even when I grew up, I was still immature.”
Esme just stood there, looking at her.
“Hey, babe. Is this woman bothering you?” Asher joined them and pulled her by the waist.
Erin was smitten with him, but she tried to stay as composed as she could.
“Is this…Your boyfriend? That's nice.” She managed to squeeze out a smile.
“He's not my boyfriend, Erin,” she finally said. “He's my husband.”
Erin's jaw dropped in shock.
“Have a good evening,” she said, ending the conversation and walking away with Asher.
He pushed a button on his car key, and the sleek vehicle chimed, shifting Erin's attention to it in surprise.
The doors parted, and they walked in.
“Who was that?” he asked her.
“I'll tell you about her later.”
The interior of the restaurant was classy, exuding an ambiance of sophistication and elegance. Soft lights contrasted with their outfits, casting warm glows over the tastefully decorated space. Rich mahogany furnishings and plush velvet upholstery adorned the luxurious space.
The air was filled with the soft hum of quiet conversations accompanied by occasional clinks of fine silverware. Smiling faces were everywhere, and melodious classical music serenaded the diners in the background, adding to the intimacy that hovered around them.
Asher led them to a table in a corner, and as they headed over to it, heads turned. Men who were with their lovers alike had to take a look at the goddess beside Asher.
