Asher ignored them and barged into the room, kicking down the door in the process.
There was a powerful whirlwind that was swirling violently around Esme. The flames from the candles had grown higher and were almost touching the ceiling.
“Esme!” He yelled against the whirlwind.
The window curtains were flailing weightlessly, algaerapidly grew all over the walls, and the overgrown plant in the room was growing bigger and bigger, threatening to bring down the building.
Juniper was lying motionless outside the circle, and Asher figured that she must have passed out.
“Rowan! Elder William!” He bellowed, and his Alpha eyes glowed as he rushed toward the whirlwind.
Rowan ran over to his wife and immediately felt her pulse. He let out a deep sigh of relief. She was still alive, just knocked out.The elder was frozen in shock.
The whirlwind mixed with the flames of the candles and was now treacherously spinning around Esme like a powerful tornado.
“Esme!” Asher called out, but instead, it was Juniper who regained consciousness in her husband's arms
Her eyes widened at the havoc that was happening in the room.
She got up, her hair dancing to the rhythm of the wind, and stretched out her hands toward the whirlwind.
“Juniper, what's going on?!” Asher had to shout due to the noise of the tornado.
“It's Esme!”she replied with the same tone. “She's losing control. We have to stop her before she uses this much mana to kill herself or, worse, kill us all!”
She shut her eyes and recited some spells.Seconds later, she reopened them and they glowed purple.
Asher had tried to break through the tornado barrier between him and Esme, but the wind was spinning more violently, and the flames had gotten worse.
He turned to Juniper, impatiently waiting for her spell to work. He figured that she must have been trying to bring the barrier down.
The walls began to crack, and the rafters started to splinter.
“Uhh…Juniper, whatever you're doing, do it fast!” Elder William said as he looked up toward the ceiling, which sounded like it was about to collapse any moment.
“I'm trying!” She strained, “She's too powerful!” Juniper yelled out loud and focused all her energy on the tornado barrier. The more she yelled, the more the barrier slowly came down.
The men looked at her as she struggled with her glowing eyes and her screams.
Asher was watching as the tornado became shorter and the flames grew weaker.
Come on. You're almost there, Juniper.
She screamed, clearly unable to hold on much longer.
“Asher, now!”
The tornado was still a bit high, but that was a small challenge for a werewolf. He growled, revealing his canines and the glow of his Alpha eyes before leaping into the air.
Moments later, he landed inside the circle where Esme was kneeling, resting on her heels. She seemed to have shed tears while unconscious.
“Asher, you have to knock her out!” Juniper instructed.
He couldn't bring himself to inflict pain on her, to hurt her, especially since she had no idea what she was doing, nor did she have control over it.
But Asher understood the danger this calamity was posing to those in the room—including Esme—and also to his Pack.
Calmly, with precision, he gave a swift chop to her neck and immediately caught her in his arms before her body hit the ground.
