“Hello,” Esme greeted with a rather timid tone.

“Hi, Esme. Good to see you again.” Juniper embraced her.

This time, everyone in the room saw the eyes of the two women glow—Juniper's were purple, Esme's were green.

“Whoa,”Juniper said softly. “Did you feel that?”

Esme nodded, “Yeah. Just like the first time we met at my wedding.”

The men exchanged glances amongst themselves but remained silent.

“Could you give us the room, please?” Juniper requested.

Asher was hesitant for a moment.

“She's got this, man.” Rowan patted his shoulder. “Let's go.”

Elder William nodded at Esme before leaving with the two Alpha friends.

He shut the door behind them, and Esme looked at Juniper.

“Is it true?” she asked. “Am I a witch?”

“Yes.” She kept her bag on the table and turned to face her, “It's not such a bad thing… Being a witch.”

“It's just a lot to take in,” Esme replied.

“I know.” Juniper began to reveal the contents of her bag; some candles, a piece of white chalk and something that looked like a totem.

She walked to the center of the room and bent over, gently placing the items on the wooden floor.

“When I first met you, I felt a witch's influence on you.” She started drawing a perfect circle. “Awitch must have cast a spell on you.”

“What? Why?” Esme's eyes widened in shock.

“That's what we're about to find out.” Juniper completed the circle and started drawing a pentagonal star within it.

“I don't know if this will help, but I've been dreaming about a strange woman in white for two nights now,” Esme offered.

The vertices of the star connected with the circumference of the circle, and she picked up the candlesand placedthem on the five points of the star shape.

Juniper asked Esme to step inside it.

She did, copying the exact way Juniper had positioned herself—on her knees but resting on her heels.

“It’s the same woman in those dreams?” Juniper asked.

“Yes.” Esme nodded in affirmation. “Do you think she was the one who cast the spell on me?”

“I don't know,” she replied. “I'll have to use magic on you to answer that. Hope you don't mind?”

Esme thought for a while, then said, “Let's do this.”

“Give me your hands,” Juniper requested, and Esme stretched them forward.

Juniper took them in hersand shut her eyes.

“Inferndos ignacias,”she said, and the candles lit up immediately.
