“Oh, forgive me. The name is Callahan. Callahan Finn, Alpha of the Summer Rain Pack.”
She laughed, “Well…I'm Esme Florian, just turned Esme Grey…”
He cut her off, “...Wife of the Alpha of the Ghostbound Pack. Don't forget your title.”
She smiled.
Usually, Asher's friends never visited the Pack because of the curse; however, a couple of them made an exception today to honor their friend. Aside from Callahan, Rowan and Articus were also present, alongwith Rowan's wife, Juniper.
“Congratulations, my friend.” Rowan approached him with Juniper and Articus by his side.
The friends focused on the human bride and engaged her in conversation, making her feel welcome and loved.
Juniper reached out to hug her. “Hi, I'm Juniper.”
“Nice to meet you, Juniper, I'm Esme.” She laughed lightly.
As they embraced, Asher noticed that Juniper's eyes glowed faintly, and her fingertips sparkled a bit. The two hugged each other and smiled.
Asher didn't think much about what had just happened but the look on Juniper's face gave him pause.
Juniper stole the groom away and isolated him from the others.
“What's going on?” he asked her, “I noticed what happened with your eyes and fingers when you hugged Esme.”
“You saw that?” she asked him.
“Yes,” he replied. “Is there something that I should know?”
She sighed, “Yes, actually.” She continued. “Asher, I can feel a witch's influence on your human bride.”
“What do you mean by a witch's influence?” He looked at Juniper, although he wasn't entirely surprised.
“I feel the weight of a spell on her. The energy is so powerful that it could have been cast by an older and more powerful witch. I'm able to tell that there's a spell cast because I'm strong, but a newbie or an amateur witch would not be able to detect it.”
“Okay…” Asher drawled, “What does that mean?”
“For now, I don't know,” she replied. “But believe me, a spell was cast over your bride. I don't know why it was cast, but it was.”
Asher looked at his wife, who was already dancing with his friends. She was so innocent and beautiful yet full of mystery. What a strange human she was.
Who would want to cast a spell on Esme, and most importantly, why?

After the ceremony was over, Asher picked up his wife, bridal-style, and took her to his room—their room. Gently, he laid her down on the comfy mattress of the four-poster bed.
He looked at her, appraising her gorgeousness even though she looked tired and sleepy. He was not going to force himself on her. No.
However, he leaned over to kiss her, and she let him. Asher's lips landed on hers, and soon, his tongue glided slowly into her mouth. She accepted it and returned the favor. He kissed her fervently but gently.
She was a novice—of this, he was certain. The way she kissed him back showed her lack ofexperience.
“Is this your first time kissing a man?” he asked.
Embarrassed, Esme hid her face and nodded subtly.
He smiled and raised her chin.
