Page 15 of Alex

“Larry, mind your fucking tongue. It’s Alex.

“Prez?” He asks, almost as if he doesn’t believe me.

“Yeah, jerkoff, you need my social security number or something? Where’s Max?” I ask.

“Max? What the fuck. Oh shit, Prez. Everyone is freaking the fuck out. Clean came home without you. Ryder nearly beat him to death. “

“What, what the fuck! Is he okay? Where’s Ryder?”

“Everyone is out looking for you. What happened? Are you okay? You need me to come?” Larry asks quickly. He’s a good kid, I have no doubt that he’s going to pass his prospect run.

“Is there anyone else besides you at the club?”

“No, just me. “Larry answers.

“Then you stay there, give me Max’s cell phone number and Ryder’s and Wire’s. You try to call them too. Tell them I’m looking for them. That I’m okay but just can’t get home.”

“You sure?” Larry asks.

“God dammit Larry, I told you what I want you to do, stop fucking questioning me. Just fucking do it.”

“Okay, sorry Prez.” He mutters before he starts to ramble off the guy's cell phone numbers. If they are out looking for me, they’re not going to pick up the phone. It’s hard as fuck trying to hear a phone ring while you’re riding a motorcycle. I wish there was some way for us to get a mic directly in our helmets or something.

The first person I try to call is Max but he doesn’t answer. The next one after that is Ryder but I get the same result. Wire is the next one I call and thankfully he answers.

“What?” He barks out.

“Wire, where you at?” I ask, trying to let my voice be heard over the roar of the motorcycle.

I hear his bike squeal to a stop, “Hello?” He says.

“Yeah, it’s me Alex. Where are you?”

“Holy fuck! Prez! You okay? What the fuck happened? What do you need? What the fuck is going on?” He asks just as quickly as Larry did. I’ve been gone for hours. I can’t imagine how fucking upset they were.

“I’m good, a little banged up but nothing serious. My bike is out of commission and I’m far from home. I need someone to come with the truck and pick me up. “

“Yeah, where at?” Wire asks and I tell him Laura’s address.

Something metal bangs behind me softly. When I turn my head, I see Laura has come out of the shower and is pulling out a pot from under the sink. She’s wearing a long sleep shirt that goes past her knees. Her long hair is still wet, but it’s pulled up from her clean face.

I can’t stop myself from eye fucking her as she starts to cook. Shit, she’s not wearing anything particularly sexy but seeing her next to me puts me into overdrive.

“Prez, did you hear me?” Wire says on the phone.

“What no. Say it again.” I focus on the call.

“I said we went down to the Tears of Chaos to press them about your whereabouts, we’re almost three hours away from where you at now.”

“Is that him on the phone? Is he okay? Where is he?” I hear Gin in the background now. I don’t have the patience or mental capacity to talk to everyone right now.

“Yeah, it’s fine, just get here. Make sure no one fucking follows you. I don’t want no outsiders brought back to this house. You hear me Wire?”

“Yeah Prez. I’ll only take Max in the truck, no bikes.”

“Good, make it happen.” I hang up before he has a chance to say anything else.

As I hang up the phone, I see Laura cutting up chicken and putting it into a frying pan with some peppers to sauté. She’d only started cooking a minute or so ago, but it already smells wonderful. “You need me to do anything?” I ask after I replace the phone on the receiver.
