I’ve made my business what it is.

I sealed the merger, and in doing so, I’ve secured my place in the financial world, and I can damn well walk away from it whenever the fuck I please.

“Moving forward, I will be based here, in this hotel for the foreseeable.” My eyes find Elise’s, and hers are wide with surprise, and possibly shock. Yes, baby, I’m staying put. First time for everything, I guess.

“If you’d like to raise your glasses in a toast,” I say as I raise my own glass in the air. “To the merger and growth of Blue Diamond.”

The room repeats my words, and then we all drink, but my eyes never look away from Elise.

“Enjoy the rest of the evening,” I finish, and then I start to walk, my legs moving in the direction of Elise. She’s like a fucking magnet, and at some point since I left her in the bed in my room on the morning I disappeared, I decided I couldn’t just let her be a one-night thing. I want another taste of her. I want her to scream my name as I eat her pussy and she urges me on. I want to consume her and take every-fucking-thing she has left to give.

I’m not a changed man by any means, but I know what I want, and I still want her.

One night wasn’t enough.

“Dorien,” I hear Hayley say from the side of me, and I curse her under my breath as I stop in my tracks and reluctantly turn to face her.

“What is it, Hayley?” I ask her, my tone showing that I can’t be doing with any nonsense.

“Um, do you need me to set up room twenty-nine for you again? I mean, seeing as you’ll be staying for a while, I thought that—”

“No, Hayley,” I say, cutting her off. “I do not want my usual room. I will be staying here, in the penthouse, until further notice. And it’s Mr Dukes, not Dorien.”

“Noted.” She nods her head when she speaks, her eyes looking at me with something akin to lust as her cheeks become flushed. Dear God, no. Never happening.

“Is that all?” I ask, because there is a delectable woman somewhere behind me who I would like to go and speak to.

“Uh, yes, sir.” The way she says ‘sir’ does absolutely nothing for me, not in the way Elise saying it does.

“Good. And make sure this get-together is finished within the next thirty minutes. I want to be left alone,” I demand.

“Oh… uh… of course,” she stutters, and I turn away abruptly to find that Elise is no longer stood where she was. I guess I’ll just have to go and find her.

Chapter Twenty-Four

ELISE

“He’s my new fucking boss?” I say to myself in the mirror of the toilet. “Oh my god…” I have no idea what to do with that information. He owns this hotel… he owns half the fucking hotels globally now he’s done whatever he’s done with whatever merger he was talking about… he could sack me, send me on my way after I basically went and begged him to fuck me. Oh God, oh God, oh God.

A knock at the door has me jumping with a start. Bugger, I should have just gone somewhere else and not used the toilet in the penthouse, but I felt like I couldn’t breathe in that fucking room, and my mind told me to just get somewhere I could lock myself away for a few moments. A few moments aren’t enough, I need a whole chunk of time to process the fact that I have fucked my boss.

“Elise,” I hear hissed from the other side of the door. Oh thank God, it’s just Celeste. I open the door quickly and drag her in, shutting it and locking it behind her.

“Oh my Christ, Elise—” she starts, but I cut her off.

“Don’t say it. Don’t even think it,” I warn her, but I already knew my words would be wasted because she’s practically bristling on the spot.

“You’ve fucked our new boss…. No, no, you’ve fucked our new hot-as-hell boss.” She squeals in delight, meanwhile I want the ground to swallow me whole and take me far away from here. If only I could teleport myself to somewhere unknown.

“Stop saying it,” I tell her, my hands going into my hair as I grab chunks and hold them in despair. “What the hell am I going to do?”

“Nothing,” she says, and I stare at her incredulously.

“Nothing? I can’t do nothing,” I state, keeping my voice as low as I can because I have no idea if anyone is outside the door.

“What exactly do you think is going to happen here, hmm?” Celeste asks.

“I… I don’t know but I’m freaking out,” I admit.
