“Minx,” he replies as he lowers his lips to my neck and slowly starts to trail kisses down my body. I don’t reply, and I couldn’t even if I wanted to. Once his mouth finds my sensitive spot, I am consumed by nothing but pleasure. As his tongue swirls around my clit, I think of nothing but him. Nothing else matters except for us. Nothing else at all…
Chapter Two
I get out of the shower after working up quite a sweat. I brush my long brunette hair and take in my glowing complexion and sparkling emerald-green eyes before heading back to the bedroom. It’s amazing what sex can do for you first thing in the morning. I wrap a towel around me, but I pause in the bedroom doorway as I see that Luke is getting dressed in his work clothes.
“What are you doing?” I ask him.
“I need to go into work for a couple of hours,” he replies as he sits down on the edge of the bed and puts his socks on.
“But it’s Saturday!” I say in protest.
“I know, but I have to go.”
“Seriously? Is there no one else that can go?” I say, frustrated. I understand that his job as a construction manager is important, but there are other people that work at the company.
“Afraid not. I know that it’s not ideal, but I’m the only one that can look over some adjustments to plans that need to be given the okay for the contractors to start production on Monday morning,” he says as he stands up from the bed and comes over to me.
“But I thought that we would have the day together, seeing as this is our first official day of me moving in with you.” I feel a little put out that he is ditching me for work.
“Charlie, I wouldn’t be going if this wasn’t important. I’ve been working on these plans for months.” He looks genuinely remorseful, making me feel a little bad about my reaction. “I promise that I will be back before you know it, and I promise to make it up to you later.”
“You better, Sanders,” I say as I place my hands on his chest and stand on tip toes, allowing me to place a light kiss on the corner of his mouth.
“Oh I will,” he replies as he places his hands on my hips and captures my mouth with his. I lean my body towards him and move my hands so that they are resting on his broad shoulders. I don’t want him to go, but I end our kiss quicker than I would have liked so that he can go to work and get back here sooner rather than later.
“Hmmm, even after ten years together I don’t think that I will ever tire of the way your lips feel on mine,” he tells me, his deep voice, evoking a delicious tingle that runs up my spine. I feel a sense of smugness at the fact that he still wants me as much as the day he met me.
“Snap,” I say with a smile on my face. “Now get going. The sooner you’re back, the sooner you can start to make it up to me.” I let go of him, take a step to the side and walk around him. I hear him laugh as he leaves the bedroom. I listen for the click of the front door closing and I flop down onto the bed. I can’t believe that work has called him in today. Luke has always been a hard worker, but this takes the piss. He has had to work occasional Saturdays before, but just recently, it seems to be happening on a regular basis.
Luke has been working at Dalton’s Construction since he left school, aged sixteen. He has worked his way up from brickie to construction manager. I am so proud of him for what he has achieved, but I am starting to resent how much the company expects from him.
I lay back on the bed and stare at the ceiling as I try to decide what to do with the next couple of hours. I should be unpacking my boxes that are currently residing in the lounge, but it doesn’t take me long to dismiss that thought. I may have been with Luke for ten years now, but it wouldn’t feel right to place my stuff around the house without him. It’s something we should do together. I close my eyes and let my mind wander to the day that he asked me to move in with him…
Luke picked me up from my parents’ house and drove us to the local park. It was a gorgeous, sunny evening and I had been looking forward to seeing him all day long. I made sure that I was wearing one of my favourite dresses, which also happens to be one of Luke’s favourites on me too. I had on my light blue sundress, which has small daisies stitched along the bottom. I teamed it with my white sandals, and I left my hair down.
I wanted to look my best as Luke had been away for work for three days. It doesn’t seem to matter how much time passes us by, I always get the same butterflies that I had the first time that I saw him. I knew that when he pulled into the parking spaces by the park that he was taking me to ‘our special place.’ It’s nothing fancy, but it is secluded.
As we got out of the car, Luke took my hand in his and pulled me along behind him. He had a picnic basket in his other hand. I couldn’t wait to lay beside him and catch up on the three days that we had spent apart. And by catch up, I meant make-out. We reached ‘our spot’ which is a small bench that is located behind a large hill. You wouldn’t know it was there unless you decided to brave walking down the steep hill and then look in the alcove at the bottom of it. The bench is at the edge of the alcove and the view from it is amazing. It looks out over the valley, and in the evenings, you can see the twinkling lights of the town below. We found this place when we were first dating. I was sixteen, Luke was eighteen.
Luke let go of my hand and placed the picnic basket down on the bench. He then pulled a blanket out of the basket and spread it out on the floor.
‘Take a seat, madam,’ he said in that playful tone of his. I giggled and did as he asked. He sat down beside me and pulled two glasses out of the picnic basket, along with a bottle of wine. After pouring us both a glass, he handed me mine and then declared he was making a toast.
‘A toast?’ I asked, wondering what news he was about to tell me. Luke only ever made a toast when he had something important to say.
‘Yes, babe. I would like to make a toast to us,’ he said as he clinked his glass against mine. ‘And I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to move in with me.’ I opened my mouth to respond, but then I closed it again as his words fully processed in my mind. Move in? He wants me to move in with him? As I continued to stare at Luke, he started to look uncertain.
‘Oh God, you don’t want to live with me, do you?’ he asked, clearly misunderstanding my silence. I quickly wanted to rectify his line of thinking.
‘Of course I want to live with you, Luke. I’m just shocked, that’s all.’
He let out a sigh of relief before his eyebrows knitted together in a frown. ‘Why are you shocked?’
‘Because we have been together for nearly ten years now and when it has been mentioned before you have always been a bit cagey.’
‘I have not been cagey,’ Luke said defiantly.
‘You have, babe,’ I replied, allowing myself to giggle as he started to pout at me.
