“You’re the best, bae. I appreciate you for making the drive out here.”
“It’s no problem at all. I wanted to see you. I finished my quota for the day and figured I’d stretch my feet.”
“Shit, I could really close up shop early…”
“Blaze…” Brielle made her presence known again. Her face was the definition of disgust.
My heart pounded in my chest as Suvi turned on her heels to look at Brielle. Suvi’s face didn’t hide her distaste of the woman. “Not another ex…”
“Suvi… You’re fucking your best friend now?” Brielle chuckled. “I knew this bitch was shady as fuck.”
My first day back to work and Iimmediatelyget into shit. My luck was ass. Houston was too fucking big to keep running into exes. I never had to deal with shit like this before marriage. It was like every skeleton in my closet was ready to pop out and say hey.
I opened my mouth to respond, but Suvi lifted her hand. I shut my mouth immediately and prayed God let us make it through whatever was about to happen.
“Look, Brielle. I’m not going to sit here and say much to you. What Blaze does in his private life is none of your concern because you are not his bitch. You’re an ex who can’t get over the fact you not getting him anymore.” Suvi stepped closer to Brielle which resulted in Brielle taking a cautious step back.
“Well, you should keep a closer leash on your dog. He was all in this pussy a few weeks ago.” Brielle wanted to have agotchamoment, but it wasn’t going to work.
“Girl, I don’t give a fuck what he did prior to our marriage, but as you can see…” Suvi waved the large diamond ring in Brielle’s face.
Brielle’s smirk fell into a deep frown. “Y’all are married…”
“Now, I don’t know what type of niggas you’re used to, butthisone is faithful. You had your chance, but you can talk about it with the rest of the loser bitches still crying about not being with Blaze anymore. I’m gon’ let you walk out of here, but if you call me a bitch again, I won’t hesitate to drag you by that wig back to where you came from.” Suvi didn’t wait for a response as she turned away from Brielle and looked me deep in the eyes. She placed her hands on my cheeks and gave me a tender kiss. “Enjoy your lunch. I’ll see you at home.”
I nodded.
Brielle stormed off without another word and got into her car. She sped off into traffic. Suvi shook her head.
“I love you, Su.”
“I love you, too.” She left the shop.
Rontre and Freddie waited until both women were no longer in the area before they busted out laughing. I sat down in one of the steel pull out chairs and let out a frustrated breath.
“You know you gon’ be in some shit when you get home,” Ron stated with a chuckle.
“Man. You could see the smoke coming out of Suvi’s ears when she left. You better bring home her favorite meal, snacks, and a new pair of shoes to rectify her running into yo’ ex bitch,” Freddie added.
“The crazy part is… This the second ex we don’ ran into since we’ve been married. I ain’t ever ran into an ex before I got into a serious relationship. Why the fuck are all the bitches from my past popping up?”
“Miserable, bitter hos can sense when a nigga finally happy. Don’t let them ruin what you’ve worked so hard to build,” Freddie explained.
“You got you a good one with Suvi. A good woman not gon’ allow too many blasts from the past, so be careful.” Rontre patted my shoulder.
I nodded as I took their advice. Though she put on a good front, Suvi was pissed. She handled Brielle nicely, but I had to prepare myself for the earful I would hear when I got home tonight.
I brought pizza from Marco’s and wings from Kelz Kitchen. I entered the home with the food first and set the boxes on the kitchen table. Then, I went back out to my car to retrieve the wine and pajama set with matching house shoes.
“Su! I’m home, baby!” I called out as I locked the garage door and placed the gifts on the table.
Suvi emerged from around the corner. “What’s this?”
“Since you brought me lunch, I wanted to take care of dinner. I got your favorite orders and something extra. You can start eating. I’m gon’ shower and then join you.”
She nodded. “Thank you, baby.”
“Anytime.”
