“It’s more than that,” I defended.
“If you weren’t feeling ’em, I understand. We’ll keep looking until we find the one we both love.” Blaze placed his right hand on my thigh and rubbed the exposed skin gently. I rested my hand on top of his and looked out the window.
We’d been married a full month now. Today we both had a clear schedule, so we met up with the realtor who had three potential homes for us to check out that met all of our requirements—or so we thought. So far the first two were a definite no. I prayed I’d get a certainfeelingwhen we came in contact with our forever home.
“I’m not in a rush. It might take months to find the home that fits everything we want and need to grow our family together. Don’t get discouraged or frustrated,” Blaze suggested while he rubbed his thumb on the skin of my thigh.
“Okay, husband.”
I looked out the window and zoned out. Jhene Aiko’s soft vocals lulled me as I tried to push the disappointment of the first two homes out of my mind. Saturday traffic wasn’t bad, so we made it to the third home in about thirty-five minutes. As we entered the gated community, my spirit lifted.
The light feeling was new but welcomed, nonetheless. “Forget all my complaining earlier.”
Blaze raised a curious brow. “Why?”
“I have a feeling we’re going to love the house!”
I’d gotten a burst of adrenaline as I sat up straight. GPS guiding us through the winding streets and up to agorgeoustwo-story home. The brick home had a beautiful front yard with a large tree in the center. The two-car garage was on the right of the house with a stone path leading to the front door.
“I love it already, Blaze!” I exclaimed as I took in the beauty of the home. I wanted to jump out and run into the home, but Blaze hadn’t fully parked yet. He pulled into the long driveway and turned the car off. I wanted to hop out immediately, but Blaze made a big deal about me never touching a door handle.
“You’re my queen, Su. Queens don’t open their own doors,”Blaze would say.
It didn’t take long for us to exit the car and follow the steps to open the door to see the home. As I opened the door, I felt like I’d found the one. The living room was spacious with a fireplace. The floor was white and gray marble. The walls were all a cozy cream color with granite countertops and black appliances. The natural light wasperfect.
“The kitchen is nice. Look at the island!” I slid my hand across the island in the kitchen. I had visions of getting my Chef Ramsey on.
Blaze stepped closer to me and eliminated the space. His front pressed against my back as he snaked his arms around my waist. “My imagination is running wild. The things we could do on this island… Mmm, mmm, mmm.”
I shook my head. “Get your horny ass on! I’m trying to look at the home.”
“The best way to look at a home is to picture your life in each room. In this room, I see you in nothing but a robe, cooking me dinner. I come home after a long day of bossing the niggas at the shop around and slide right up in you.”
I scrunched my nose and craned my neck to look into his eyes. “Hell naw! You not sliding into shit with a sweaty, stankin’ ass dick.”
Blaze tossed his head back as he laughed. His hands rested on the curve of my hips. “I know you like a clean dick, baby. I’ll make sure to shower before I fuck you.”
“That’s all I ask.”
He shook his head while we continued the self-guided tour. The main bedroom was huge. I’d have a field day decorating the area. The floor was carpeted, but the bathroom had large gray tiles. There was a garden tub and a walk-in shower with a toilet ducked off behind another door. The closet was humongous with a his and hers styled design.
“The shit I could do to you in here,” Blaze commented as he looked at the double head shower. I’d have a side of the shower, and he’d have his own side as well.
“Blaze! You’re not going to know what to do when we get this place.”
“You’ve made up your mind and we haven’t even seen the rest of the rooms.”
“I don’t have to see them because it just feels so perfect.”
“I agree.” He pecked my lips as we made our way up the flight of stairs to the other rooms. I liked that the main bedroom was on the first floor away from the rest of the house. There were two offices downstairs as well as a half bathroom near the front entrance. Upstairs were the three bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a media area. It was crazy because I pictured a game room in the center area with a large flatscreen television and many toys covering the carpeted floor.
“We gon’ have our three kids occupying all the rooms,” Blaze teased.
My eyes rolled. “I don’t like how the number keeps switching.”
“Hey. We gon’ keep it in God’s hands. However many kids He wants us to have?—”
“I’ll be sure to have a word with Him during my next ovulation week. God, I don’t want a starting lineup. Keep it cute because I do not want to drive a minivan.”
