Cyrus hadn’t confirmed it had been her former alpha, but he didn’t need to. Who else would have any reason to fuck with our pack? Who else would have passed a rare male omega and taken our beta?
Though she was fucking gorgeous. Stunning. Heartbreakingly beautiful.
The cars flew by in my periphery. Horns honked periodically as we weaved in and out of traffic, barely missing a few bumpers by inches in my haste to catch up to Issa.
And then what? Not like we could run the car off the road. Even if we were in a bigger vehicle, we couldn’t risk hurting our girl.
But at least we would know where the hell she was. We would stay right the fuck behind them until they had no choice but to pull over.
And then I would rip that mother fucker’s head from his shoulders with my bare fucking hands. I would make him suffer for thinking he had any right to breathe the same oxygen as Issa let alone daring to put his mother fucking hands on her.
CHAPTER 46
Issa
Iwas wedged as close to the passenger door as possible, keeping as much distance between Antonio and myself as I could. The jerk in the back smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and cheap beer.
No idea how I could tell it was cheap other than he smelled…sticky.
Like the smell of the trashcans at The Vault at the end of the night.
The entire cab of the older model sedan was filled with their scents, of smoke and alpha hormones. And it turned my stomach and filled my throat with bile.
“I’m going to throw up,” I blurted.
There was a glimmer of hope that if I threatened to puke in the car, Antonio would pull over and I could make a run for it or wave down some help.
Surely, someone would see two giant alphas chasing after me and either stop to help orcall the police.
But Antonio made a dismissive sound in the back of his throat as though he either didn’t believe me or had no intention of pulling over any time soon.
Probably best for him. Though it sucked for me.
Best for him because I was not the weak, broken beta he knew from before. I would fight tooth and nail the second I was able to get out of this car. I would scream and flail and fight until either he gave up or someone stepped forward to help me get away from my fucking captors.
How the hell was I here again?
And had he killed Oscar?
My heart ached at the thought someone might have died simply because they were supposed to be protecting me.
I had balked at the idea of having armed babysitters everywhere I went, had almost pitied Cora for having to live behind the heavily guarded walls that surrounded her estate.
But if we’d had manned gates at the start of our driveway there was no way Antonio would have had the balls to attack us the way he had.
“You shot Oscar when he wasn’t looking,” I blurted, turning in my seat to look at him then at the jerk behind me.
“That the dead fuck’s name?” Antonio said, smirking as he shared a look with the alpha in the backseat.
“You’re a coward. You knew if you’d waited until they were out of the SUV, there wasn’t a chance in hell you would survive in a fight against them. You snuck up and shot him through the window instead of going toe to toe with him like a man. You threatened my omega instead of challenging Abdel because you knew he would sacrifice his own life before ours.”
A growl lifted on the air, sending the fine hairs on my arms and the nape of my neck to stand on end.
“Careful, beta,” Antonio growled.
He turned a glare on me long enough I grew nervous. His eyes needed to be on the road being as he was pushing the sedan over eighty miles an hour with quite a few other vehicles around us.
I turned in my seat and stared through the windshield, still pressed as close to the door as possible, my arms wrapped around my middle.
