He is a beast.
Liam
They came for her. They sent six fucking men to take her from me, and these guys are suffering the consequences.
It would take a hell of a lot to take her away from me. I would fight, kill, and do whatever it takes to keep her with me.
She is mine, she is my woman and my life. My life is not being taken from me.
I grip the steering wheel hard, the leather creaking under my grip. I will kill every single one of these motherfuckers and make them pay for what they have done.
This shit will end, and fucking soon—there is no doubt about that.
Paisley
An Hour Later
Liam and I are both showered, in bed, and watching TV. I don’t think either of us is really watching though. Our minds are going a million miles an hour.
“Paisley, I hate that someone was coming for you.” His hand stops on the middle of my back, and I look at him.
“I am fine, Liam. You protected me.”
He sure did protect me—he protected me in a fierce way that I have never seen before. I have never seen him so angry; he was vicious. They never even hit him, it was wild.
“I wish those fuckers were dead,” he says through clenched teeth.
I snuggle against him, my fingers digging into his chest. He hugs me tighter. I honestly don’t know what to say to him. I wish these people were out of my life, out of my family’s life.
This town is our safe haven; I grew up here and have always felt safe because the MC keeps out these kinds of people. We do what we have to do, just like the Grim Sinners MC. The cartel is trying to take out the small coastal towns, and we can’t allow that to happen. I don’t want this town to be swallowed up by drugs.
Liam’s phone rings and he picks it up. I hear someone talking but I can’t hear what they are saying.
He hangs up the phone, stares at the ceiling for a few minutes, and looks at me. “I have to go to the club.”
I know exactly what he has to do. I nod and climb out of bed, and I slip on my clothes. Liam does the same, putting his gun on his hip.
He grabs my hand and we go out to his truck, which has been reinforced, like my car, with bulletproof windows and other safety features. The Grim Sinners and Devil Souls MCs don’t like to take any chances, and their tech guys often team up on developing safety features.
We sit in silence on the way to the club. I stare at Liam. I can tell he is still pissed, mainly because he is about to tear the steering wheel off; the leather is cracking.
The gate opens when we reach the club and, the moment we are inside, the door slams shut immediately, not leaving a second for someone to slip through.
We walk inside the club, and Shaylin is sitting on the couch with her daughter. Liam kisses the side of my head and walks back to the interrogation room.
Shaylin looks at me. “You okay, honey?” She lifts Tiana, cuddling her against her chest. The little girl’s eyes are sleepy.
“I am fine.” I smile and touch Tiana’s cheek. She is one of the most beautiful toddlers I have ever seen. I was there the moment she became a part of Shaylin and Butcher’s life. She had been left in a car where her mother had overdosed. The mother hated Shaylin, but Shaylin took in the little girl.
She had it rough until Shaylin and Butcher came into her life; now she has Butcher wrapped around her little finger. Butcher is this huge beast of a dude who is meaner than fuck, except when it comes to Shaylin and Tiana.
An hour passes. Tiana is asleep, lying on the couch beside Shaylin and me. The men are still in the back room.
My phone buzzes in my pocket, and I take it out and see a text from Vanessa. “I am outside the gate, can you let me in?”
What the hell? What is she doing here? She has never been here. Oh my goodness, do you think the cartel is after her? “My friend is outside the gates, I am going to see what’s wrong.”
Shaylin nods and smooths Tiana’s hair out of her face.
