Well, it is what it is, I thought as I pushed myself off the sink to undress.
I don't want to be late for work, and I miss Luna already.
As the drops of water from the shower rain on my body, I can’t help but reminisce about Ted’s body on mine.
It's been what? Ted is the only man I've been with.
My first, and now.
It was quite a good ride, and I enjoyed it every bit. I won't deny it, but that was it.
No emotions attached, no regrets, nothing. It was just for the fun of it.
I checked out the dress I have on, and I think I look good enough.
I grab my phone and purse and make my way from the guesthouse, which I have always known as home, to the main mansion of the Gates.
“Good morning, Mrs. Grace Gates.” I wave to Luna’s grandmother and Ted’s mom as she approaches me with a smile.
“Good morning, dear.” She responds with a wider smile and gives me a half-hug, which isn't surprising, knowing Mrs. Grace Gates is too homely and extra nice.
“I hope you had a great night?” I ask, feeling chattier than I have in a long while. Judging from the look of disbelief on Mrs. Grace Gates's face, I know it's pretty shocking even to her.
She's used to the ‘Hello’ and disappearing immediately, Winnie. She is not an extra chatty Winnie, but the smile on her face indicates that she likes me better.
“My night was good, but I think my morning is going better,” she says, her smile still plastered on her face. “How was yours?”
“I had a good night,” I say.
“It's obvious, and I'm glad. You look outstanding this morning.” She compliments me, making me a shade darker.
“Thank you. Is Luna awake?” I ask, looking into the house entrance as though my answer is right there.
“Luna is in her nursery. I think Ted is there, too,” she informs me.
“He’s such a good father. I'm so proud of him.” She says proudly.
“I bet,” I say with a tight lip smile, ignoring the slight sinking feeling I suddenly feel in my chest.
“Oh dear, let me let you go and not bore you with my long talks.” She apologizes.
“It's fine. It was necessary.” I reply.
“Alright, I'll see you around. Let me run along. Everything you need for Luna is in her nursery, and if you need anything, feel free to ask Ted. I doubt he'll make it to work. His father has been on his neck. The boy needs a break.” She laughs.
“A break from what?” I ask before realizing it. “Oh my, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry.” I quickly add as I take a step to leave.
“No, no, no, it's fine. You are family, so it's no big deal. Well, Ted’s father wants him to get married soon, so they've been hunting for a suitable wife.” Mrs. Grace chuckles softly.
“Oh, I see,” I say, having no idea what to do with the information. Well, I wish him luck; he needs it.”
“Thank you, dear. See you around.” She walks off immediately.
Ted is getting married. That'll be something interesting to see. I thought while making my way into the nursery.
“Hello, good morning,” I say to Ted, who is crouched over Luna’s cot and playing with her.
He straightens up and clears his throat. “Good morning,” he says. He avoids my gaze and turns back to Luna.
