“Don’t worry, “I add. “There’s nothing they can do to make me give you up.”
“You know as well as I that there’s nothing the Black Dragon won’t do.”
“I’m ready to die. I’ve got nothing to live for except getting justice for my family.”
I was only fifteen years old when the people I loved the most were taken from me. I never went back to school, I didn’t have a job, I lived off the money my grandmother left me, and the only thing in my heart has been vengeance.
Vincent Xu deserves to die. Not only did he get away with a vicious crime—the cops were either incompetent or paid off—but in the past few years, instead of being held accountable for his crimes, he’s only grown more wealthy and more powerful, mostly thanks to his omega blockers. I myself took his omega blockers even though I knew I was putting money in his pockets every time I bought them. But I didn’t want anything getting in the way of my life’s mission.
Brady looks me over. His lips press into a grim line. “They really roughed you over.”
“It could’ve been worse. Not having my omega blockers actually helped.”
Brady’s hand curls into a fist. He knows the evil Vincent is capable of, and I probably just confirmed it with my statement.
“I can take out the guys at the door,” Brady says.
“Then what? You got some dolphins that will be our getaway vehicle?”
“We pull into Kingston tomorrow.”
For a moment, I let myself consider the possibility of freedom, but Vincent’s death is more important. I probably won’t be able to get this close to Vincent ever again. I stare Brady in the eyes. “We both knew this was a suicide mission. You still have a chance. If you blow your cover, we won’t get this same opportunity again.”
“I’ll kill Vincent first then come for you.”
“Sure,” I agree, though I know the first part is hard enough, especially now that they suspect there’s another assassin aboard. “But don’t spend your energy and attention worrying about me. I’ll die happy if you get Vincent what he deserves. We should wrap this up before they suspect anything.”
Brady nods. “If there’s anything I can get you, like a shirt—”
“No. That will definitely be suspicious. Maybe more water next time.”
At that, Brady frowns. “What if there’s no next time if I don’t try and get you out asap?”
“Vincent just told me that he plans on keeping me alive. I don’t give a shit what he does to me, though there is something you can get for me.”
“I can hide some omega blockers inside your food.”
I hesitate. I hate the fact that, without the omega blockers, my body is susceptible to Vincent’s touch. He figured out early on that I was an omega when he found one of my omega blockers. The asshole had opened the capsule and made me lick the contents off his shoe. But the omega blockers would make the assault harder to endure. As much as it sickens me mentally and emotionally to submit to Vincent, my body is a different story. All the pain and torment only made my orgasms more intense, more unforgettable. My body might even get off on Vincent’s breeding shit.
“Abortion pills,” I tell Brady.
“Abortion is illegal in Jamaica at present,” he says. “Not sure what I can get on the streets that isn’t going to be shady stuff.”
“I’ll take that chance. I don’t know if Vincent was serious about breeding, but…” I shudder at the thought of being pregnant by Vincent.
Brady’s eyes widen. “That fucker wants to—”
I cut him off. “Hey, we never came across anyone named Irene, right? When we were digging into Vincent’s past?”
“Not that I remember. Why?”
“When Vincent found out I wasn’t really Ramon Sanchez, I told him my name was Irene Lazzarelli. It pissed him off.”
“I’d review our notes, but we didn’t bring them with us.”
“I know. That would’ve been too risky. You better unjam the camera soon or they might send someone down.”
Brady nods and reaches into his pocket.
