“Of course I wouldn’t.” He winks at her. “Let’s get the fuck out of here before more of these goons show up.”
“Can we take Ben too, please?” Aurora speaks for the first time since we got outside. She’s been so quiet I almost forgot she was behind me.
“Yeah.” Silas sighs, bending down to throw Ben over his shoulder, carrying him to the car. We follow behind him, Nyx running to open the back door before walking around to the passenger seat and climbing in. Aurora and I climb in the back next to Ben.
The ten minute drive to the guys house is completely silent, other than the pained noises that Ben makes. When we pull into the driveway, there’s a man already waiting outside with a stretcher. I try to help get Ben out of the car, but my tiny self is less than helpful in times like this. When I try to adjust myself to flip his legs onto the stretcher, his top half flops forward, and he headbutts me in the face.
“Can I do it now?” Silas laughs, “No need to get yourself knocked out for this.”
Rubbing my face, I step away, letting him take over.
“My poor face is really taking a beating lately.” I whine to Aurora. She kisses my bruise, then the fresh red mark, which I’m pretty sure is going to bruise as well. Fuck my life.
“I don’t have any clothes or my phone.” She says, pressing her forehead against mine. “I was only trying to get laid, now look at me.”
Laughing, I pull her closer against me. Feeling her body pressed against mine soothes my soul a bit.
“I already have some of my guys headed to your place for clean up.” Silas comes to a stop next to us. “Do you need them to grab anything else for you?”
“Just phones and clothes would be awesome.” I sigh, rolling my neck. “Oh, and a nap would be wonderful.”
“I’ll have Alaric show you to the guest room.” He starts walking toward the house and we follow behind him. “I texted Mateo to let him know what happened and where you are.”
“They don’t really communicate much when they’re away.” I inform him, “They usually call before they go to bed, which is about seven pm our time.”
“Come on, ladies, your castle awaits.” Alaric waves toward the stairs in a grand gesture. “You’re right down the hall from the rest of us, so If you need something, just yell.”
“Thank you!” Aurora steps toward him. “We really appreciate you helping us out like this.”
“No problem at all. There’s clothes on the bed if you want to change.” He winks and starts walking back down stairs.
“He’s really fucking hot.” She stares after him, damn near drooling.
“He’s alright.” I shrug, “Rune is more your type, though. Wait till you see him.” Stepping into the room, Rory heads straight for the clothes. When she pulls Enzo’s shirt over her head, I’m tempted to tackle and devour her.
Deciding that’s not a great idea right now, I pull my pants down and unsnap my bra, pulling it down without taking my shirt off. I flop face down on the bed and close my eyes.
Aurora leans down to kiss me, whispering in my ear, “I’m going downstairs to wait for them to come back with my phone. I’d like to text Mateo myself so he knows everything is fine.”
“I’m going to nap for a bit, then I’ll be down.” I turn my head to kiss her, then watch her walk out the door, pulling it closed behind her.
Chapter 16
Aurora
My head is still throbbing from all of the bullshit that’s happened in the past 24 hours. I’m sitting alone in this huge kitchen, trying to get in touch with Enzo or Mateo, to let them know what happened. My phone was dead when the guys brought it in so it’s been on the charger for a while. Luna walks into the kitchen and grabs an ice pack from the freezer. Her face looks awful after being hit, AGAIN.
“How are you feeling, Peach?” She sits on the stool next to me.
“I’m alright, just exhausted.”
“Yeah,” she winces when she puts the ice pack to her face. “Are you alright down here? I think I’m going to try and get some more sleep.”
“Sorry, I didn’t realize we had company.” A voice comes from behind us. I try to spin to see who it is, but Luna’s hand covers my eyes. “Awe, come on,” he drawls, “I’m not that ugly, am I?”
“Oh, for fucks sake, Rune.” Luna chuckles, “I thought you were the other one.”
“Ouch.” Another voice says from the other side of the room. How many fucking doorways does this kitchen have? He sits down at the table, pulling his laptop out and opening it. “That hurts my feelings.”
