Cupping her cheek, I rubbed my thumb over her bottom lip, swallowing hard. “Then we need to have a serious conversation this morning. It’s time to get up, sunshine.”
She nodded, her fingers tracing a random pattern on my chest. “Why do you call me sunshine?”
I blew out a breath, knowing my answer might scare her a little.
“It started with my sarcastic comment about you being a ray of sunshine. But really, it’s because when I think of things that are warm and addictive and larger than life…I think of you,” I whispered, combing my fingers through her hair. “And I’m fairly certain any joy in my life would cease to exist right now without you in it.”
Her lip trembled as she looked at me with glassy eyes just before she hid her face against my chest and squeezed her arms against my sides.
“Hey,” I whispered, placing a finger underneath her chin and coaxing her to look at me. “I didn’t mean to upset you, but I won’t lie to you.”
“I don’t know what I’m doing, Nathan,” she whimpered, leaning against my chest. “My life is a dumpster fire right now, but I know I’ll regret it if I try to convince myself to stay away from you.”
“So, don’t. Let me in, sweet girl. We could be so good together.”
She nodded, turning to kiss my chest softly. “I’m trying.”
“That’s all I’m asking. Now, let’s get up. I’ll make you breakfast.”
She rolled off my chest, throwing her arm over her eyes and huffing a labored breath.
“Come find me when you’re ready.” Shifting onto my side, I arched my back, wincing as my stiff back muscles protested the movement. It was a bitch getting old.
“I need a few minutes,” Kelly mumbled from beneath her arm, her voice quiet.
“Take your time.” I nodded. “But don’t take too long, or I’m coming back here to get you, and you won’t like it.”
She moaned, pulling the blanket over her face.
Laughing at her response, I pulled on my jeans and grabbed my shirt from the dresser by the door, shrugging it on. As I stepped into the hallway, she called out after me.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time because I probably will like it.”
“Oh, I can assure you that withholding orgasms isn’t going to be fun,” I hollered back. “At least not for you.”
“Now you’re just being cruel,” she yelled. “You’re a mean, mean man.”
“And don’t you forget it,” I laughed, heading toward the front door to get the eggs from my trailer.

Kelly was waiting for me in the kitchen, angrily stabbing at the coffee maker while I emptied my arms onto the island. We’d need to make a supply run soon, but I had bacon, eggs, and enough veggies to make a decent omelet.
“Did a grocery store magically appear in my brother’s garage?” She yawned as she adorably rubbed a hand next to her eye.
“Not quite,” I chuckled as I stepped around her and started peering in the lower cabinets, searching for a frying pan. “Boy Scout, remember?”
“Hmm,” she nodded. “But you weren’t prepared last night.”
Finding what I was looking for, I pulled out the pan and gently placed it on the stovetop before stepping toward Kelly.
“I wasn’t,” I nodded, caging her in against the counter and dropping my face into the soft curve of her shoulder. “I thought I’d be able to resist you for one night. Clearly, I was mistaken.”
She let out a quiet moan as I sucked softly on her warm skin, arching toward me as her hand slipped around my neck.
“You’re putting me in the mood to eat something other than eggs,” I whispered in her ear, reveling in how she arched toward my chest, rubbing herself against me. She was sensual without trying, doing what felt good to her body. None of it was choreographed to gain my attention, and she was just responding to how I made her feel. It was intoxicating to have that much influence over her reactions to me.
