“Yeah, a while ago, but she never responded,” Nathan confirmed.
“Their plane has already left. Adrian is trying to get Evan a seat on a later flight,” Emory told her.
“Let’s hope he can get there. It was strange seeing Chase so depressed. I don’t think she laughed for the rest of the night.”
“I’m such a fucking idiot,” Nathan sighed. I didn’t understand why he thought this was his fault. Simone didn’t come with him. They didn’t know my history.
“Hey, I talked to that crazy witch too. She flipped a switch on a dime. There was no way for you to know who she was,” Emory assured.
“First Grace, now Simone, am I a psycho chick magnet?” Nathan growled in a low voice.
I could hear all three of them laughing.
“You knew Grace was like that before you ever stuck your dick in her,” Talia taunted.
“It never went in her. Just near her,” Nathan grumbled.
“So scary...” I mumbled, rolling toward them and trying to open my eyes.
“He lives!” Talia cheered, and I cringed at her volume.
“Even Evan knows to stay away from Grace,” Emory teased as he pushed against Nathan’s shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah.” He smiled wryly.
“How are you feeling?” Emory asked quietly. I think he could tell the loud noises were jarring.
“Like I got run over by a car, and then they backed up,” I replied hoarsely.
“Here.” Nathan held out his hand with two tablets and an uncapped water bottle in his other hand.
“What are these?”
“Just Tylenol. Nothing like the little white pills the nurse gave you,” he laughed.
“Oh, my God. I will never be going near Klonopin again. Last night was scary,” I cringed.
“I’m glad it was us who found you.” Emory’s mouth twisted. Yeah, that could have been bad.
“Me too,” I nodded.
“Let’s get you showered so you can catch up with your girl.” Talia gave me a sympathetic smile as I gingerly pushed myself to sit up on the edge of the bed.
“Fuck. I really screwed up.”
“Oh honey, no, you didn’t. She’s worried, but you can’t feel bad about a crazy ex making you have a panic attack.” Talia’s voice was trying to be soothing, but I still felt like shit, both physically and emotionally.
“I’m sorry,” Nathan apologized again. “I didn’t know who she was.”
“None of you did. Chase barely even knows about her. I wish I could have left her buried in the past,” I sighed. With an actual shovel.
“We’ve all got skeletons,” Emory grinned. “Some are kinkier than others.”
“Yeah, Simone is the opposite of kinky.” I laughed, glad they weren’t judging me for my horrible taste in women in the past.
“You seem to have caught on fine. Mr. Pink Vibrator,” Talia giggled.
I furrowed my brow as I looked at her. She gave us the vibrator, why was she... oh!
