Page 8 of Break Out

She took her time dragging her nose along my neck until her lips were centimeters from my ear. “I want to get laid for the first time in over two months.” Her hand squeezed my thigh and she slid it up to my groin. “And I’m going to be very naughty, because of those consequences.” She let out a breathy chuckle, the warm air forcing a shiver down my spine. “Well, that, plus I’m pretty sure you know exactly what you’re doing.”

Goddamn she was a temptress. But I hadn’t had this much fun in over ten years. Maybe I didn’t hate Gainesville so much after all. If all I got out of this trip was a great fuck with a college co-ed, that made the five-hour ride down from Augusta well worth it.

I moved her hand back to her lap and tilted my head back, staring at the dark ceiling. After a calming breath, I righted my head and looked at her. “What I ought to do to you…you should—”

She smirked and spoke in a flirty tone. “I should what? Are you going to tell me to smile more?”

My eyes flared. “Fuck, no. I’d rather give you something to smile about.”

Her teeth sunk into the side of her lower lip and I knew we were on the same wavelength.

The bartender had left the bill close to my drink. I opened the small leather folder, signed it to my room number along with a hefty tip and slammed it shut.

I stood and picked up my cocktail. The man on her left watched me closely. I put my lips next to her ear so he wouldn’t hear. “Let’s go, Jade. Grab your drink, we’ll finish it in my room.”

For the second time, I couldn’t get a read on her. She had been cool, calm, almost poised during the elevator ride up to the fifth floor. Once my room door closed, she seemed skittish.

I set my Old Fashioned on the credenza near the flatscreen. “Come here, Simone.”

She faced me, her gaze locked with mine. Her chest rose with a deep inhale. It felt like an eternity waiting for her to take that first step, but then she did and I exhaled. Gently, I took her drink and set it on the corner of the credenza.

Even if it struck me as being outlandish after our chemistry downstairs, but there were many ways law enforcement tried to capture outlaws like me. For all I knew, this could be a set up and she’d accuse me of forcing myself on her.

I hated having to ask this, but the question had to be raised. “You having second thoughts?”

Her eyes slid to the side and back to me. “No. It’s just… you haven’t even kissed me.”

Relief washed through me. I closed the slight distance between us, one arm going around her waist, my other hand at her cheek, fingers splayed wide.

My control felt like a rubber band stretched to the hilt. One false move and I would snap. The things I wanted to do to her. Once I started, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to stop. It was the only problem with an arrangement like this. The clock was ticking and I only had two condoms on me. If one night wasn’t enough…

“Are you just gonna stare at me?” she asked.

My arm at her waist gave her a squeeze. “Maybe.”

Those tantalizing lips curled. “Good to know.”

She paid attention downstairs. I liked that.

Her nose ran along my neck. My control snapped. I pulled her closer, used my hand at her cheek to tilt her head back, and I grazed her lips once before crushing my mouth to hers.

Downstairs, I’d thought I’d noticed everything about her, but I’d missed her fingernails. Feeling them in my hair forced a groan from me, and I dropped my hand from her cheek to wrap that arm around her shoulders.

Her mouth opened. My tongue accepted her invitation and I got my first taste of her.

Whiskey and pizza. She tasted so much better than I’d expected.

Fuck.

Her hands left my hair, and she tugged my shirt free of my jeans. Downstairs, I’d noticed her eying the tats on my arm, which felt nice, but I didn’t want her to see all of the tats on my body. Those questions led to sharing which led to intimacy – a level of intimacy I wouldn’t give her or any woman.

I tore my mouth free, but rested my forehead on hers while I caught my breath. “Goddamn, woman.”

She gave a breathy chuckle. “Backatcha, handsome.”

I wasn’t handsome, but I’d let her keep that misguided notion. “Let me get the lights. It’s too fuckin’ bright in here.”

Her head cocked to the side. “Too bright? I don’t get to see you?”
