Opening the door, I tilt my head at the man there. “Skylar?”

“The one and only.” He grins, holding up a case of beer. “With goodies. Let me in, Alek’s boy.”

Shaking my head, I move aside, and he stomps toward the kitchen. “Yo, asshole, I parked out front to show off to all your neighbors. Well, hello . . .”

Leaving Alek to deal with his guests, I drop down next to Tommy, throwing my legs over his while Lally and Alice giggle, dancing to the music.

“You know, I think there’s something between them,” Tommy comments, looking at me.

“No shit.” I bark out a laugh. “Tommy, you really are dumb.”

Frowning, he glances at them. “You knew?”

“Even the hedges know,” I tease, nudging him. “We just need to lock you down now.”

Alek drags a grinning Skylar into the living room and throws him on the couch. “Stay and behave before Bones kills you.”

“But he’s pretty.” Skylar pouts.

“If you like living, I suggest you don’t call him that.” Alek’s eyes land on me and narrow. “Pretty boy.”

Rolling my eyes, I lift my legs off Tommy, knowing Alek doesn’t like it, and then I get up and lean into his side. “So Skylar?—”

“You can call me Sky, Alek’s boy.” He toasts me with a beer.

Sitting next to him as Alek goes to find Bones, I turn to look at him. “Tell me all his dirty secrets.”

“Only if you tell me about the tattooed asshole in the kitchen.” I raise my eyebrow, and he grins. “I like them broody and tough, makes it that much sweeter when they give in and let me pin them down.”

“In your fucking dreams,” Bones snarls as he leans against the wall in the hallway, glaring at Skylar, who doesn’t seem bothered by that at all.

“Oh, it definitely will be,” Sky flirts, dragging his eyes along Bones’s body. “You can bet on that. Tell me so I can make sure my imagination does my dreams justice, are your tattoos everywhere?”

Bones arches an eyebrow. “Skylar, was it?” Skylar nods eagerly as Bones leans in, and I bite my lip to hold back my smile when he’s almost close enough to kiss. Skylar is wide-eyed as Bones places his mouth just above his. “You’ll never find out.”

He pulls away, and Skylar groans. “Mean, so mean and hot. You’re perfect.”

Bones smirks and hides it behind his cup.

Leaning into Alek, I look up into his happy eyes. “I bet you a blow job they end up fucking.”

“Deal.” He smirks, tugging me closer and dropping a kiss to my head. “Are you having a good night?”

I nod, leaning into him, my eyes on Alice. “I think she is too. It’s just what we all needed, a break from the madness.”

The music changes again, something upbeat, and I lose myself in Alek’s dark eyes, but the lights suddenly cut out, plummeting us into darkness. There’s a mix of screams, and when I turn my flashlight on, I find Tommy huddled behind us, still screaming loudly.

“Really?” I ask.

He coughs and closes his mouth but stays there. “Sorry, that freaked me out.”

“Nope, this is some horror movie bullshit,” Lally remarks.

“You are both idiots,” Alek scoffs. “It’s just the breaker. It’s an older house.”

“Alek,” Alice calls.

“Hey, it’s fine.” I turn my flashlight to her. “We’ll go turn it back on, okay? Just stay here.”
