She has a huge grin on her face and is watching me intently like she’s waiting for my reaction.

“Fuck. Did you . . . call it off?”

I don’t know why that’s the first thing that comes to my head, but I instantly regret the words as soon as they come out of my mouth. I shouldn’t have even put the thought into the universe.

This time it’s Parker who speaks. “We didn’t call it off.”

The gentleness in his tone makes me relax.

“Okay . . .”

I hear Beau and Claire shush each other like they can’t contain themselves. They look like they’re about to burst, giggling like hungry hyenas at dinner time.

My eyes return to Cass.

“It’s not our wedding day,” she says, taking a dramatic pause after the repetitive statement. “It’s yours.”

Sorry.

What?

My face must project my confusion because she points at something behind me, indicating that I should turn around.

I follow her instructions, my heart pounding in my throat as my gaze lands on Walker. He’s on a single knee, looking up at me from only a few inches below my eye level with pure satisfaction on his face. His hands reach for mine, and I take them, thankful for something to keep me steady because I’m suddenly feeling shaky.

“Will you marry me today, for real?”

Everything around us blurs into my periphery, and I feel my head shake. “What do you mean? We’re already married.”

Walker smiles up at me, squeezing my fingers to reorient me to the situation. “Just say yes, little devil. Marry me today.”

I’m not entirely sure how I reply because everything goes fuzzy, but the next thing I hear is the pop of a champagne bottle behind us. Walker’s hands surround my face as he crushes his lips against mine, kissing me slowly and deliberately as our friends cheer in the background. When he finally pulls back, I have to blink a few times to confirm that I’m not in a dream.

“How did—”

The words barely leave my mouth before Walker spins me to face our friends. His arms wrap around my body, pulling me close as they rush over.

“Sorry for being so weird,” Cass gushes as she glances back at Parker. “This entire thing was too stressful, and I’ve always thought the lake house would be the perfect wedding venue, so we decided that we would get married up there, just the two of us. When Walker found out, he worked with Parker to replan the day since everything was already paid for.”

I tilt my head up to my husband, my words coming out croaky. “You did?”

He nods. “You deserve it.”

My throat is thick with emotion when my eyes return to Cass. One day I’ll let her know how grateful I am, and how much this means to me. But right now, all I can manage is a weak, “I love you.”

“I love you more . . . Bride.”

Chapter 38

Morgan

It turns out that the boys actually did have something to do this afternoon, because as soon as we finished the champagne on the helipad, they left us to run errands. I’m not sure where the others are going, but Walker told me he had to pick up a few special guests from the airport. I still have no idea how they pulled this surprise together, but it honestly couldn’t have been more perfect.

“How pissed was your mom,” I ask Cass as I blink in the mirror.

My makeup is full glam and not understated in the least, which is funny because it’s the opposite of what my best friend would have done with this makeup artist. I’ve got fake lashes, shimmery shadow, and so much bronzer covering my face that I look like I just arrived home from a beach vacation.

I love it.
