The next five minutes end up being torture in more ways than I can comprehend.
“Sir.” A voice calls out. “We found her.”
Sweet Ella, I’m coming to get you, and I won’t ever let you go.

“You don’t have to go in there, you know? We’ll take care of everything and get her out of there in one piece.” Dante voices as one of his men parks the dark SUV across the street from an office building that is pinging Ella’s location.
It’s an office building an hour outside the city. There is nothing distinct about it, except for the fact that it looks like it has been deserted for years.
I take in every inch of the place that I can see through the darkness of the night sky as Dante’s words run through my mind.
He’s right, I don’t have to go in there. Hell I didn’t even have to come to the location, I could have had my men take care of everything and had them bring Ella home to me.
But I couldn’t sit around and just wait for her to walk through the door.
I couldn’t risk leaving her life in someone else’s hands. She’s my wife and I’d do anything for her, do anything to have her in arms again. And if that means walking into an unknown that could possibly land me in a hole right next to my parents, then so fucking be it.
“I’m going in there.”
“Of course you are.” He lets out a sigh as he shifts in his seat, pulling out a hand gun from his waistband. “Do you need a crash course on how to shoot a gun or do you remember?”
I roll my fucking eyes and take the gun.
After the kids came to love with me, and I found out about their mother’s possible extra curricular activities, I took all necessary precautions to keep them safe. And that included military and arms training. If the rumors were right and the cartel was going to retaliate, I was going to be prepared.
If we had been at the manor instead of the penthouse, I would have come ready to storm the damn building.
“Don’t fucking insult me right now, “ I say, checking the gun if it’s loaded.
“Had to ask.” He lets out before turning back to look out the window. “There’s one man standing by the door. We’ll take him out and storm in. Do you have any reservations whatsoever?”
I know my friend and he is asking me if it comes down to it, if I’m okay with Marisela taking a bullet tonight.
“No. We do what needs to be done to get Ella out of there.”
He nods and opens his door, with his men following suit.
It’s time to get my wife back, and I don’t give two shits who I have to shoot between the eyes to do it.

ELLA
My head is screaming for some relief right now.
The drugs are starting to wear off, and my body doesn’t feel as heavy as it did earlier but in return, it feels like my head is attacking me from the inside out. The only thing that I’m happy about at the moment is that all the lights in the building are off and not making my headache any worse.
A headache should be the least of your worries.
Right. I should be thinking of ways to get out of this situation but the pain is so bad, that’s its the only thing I can concentrate on. Until the pain is gone and the drugs are fully out of my system, nothing I do right now is going to help me.
A small movement to my right catches my attention and I can’t help but to flinch as the figure gets closer to me.
“You don’t need to be scared of me,” Marisela lets out when she comes into view, a small sadistic smile playing on her lips.
