“Thank God,” I whisper, catching sight of Noble and Gunner over his shoulder.
I wave at them with the hand on the back of Maverick’s neck and focus back on his smiling face.
“You said something before you left, and…” My fingers dig into his skin as I get very close to his lips. “I just want you to know that I love you too.”
Maverick growls, spinning us and slamming my back against the wall. My feet dig into his ass as he grinds into me while kissing me like he’s trying to steal all my good sense.
I moan into the kiss, completely lost to the sensation of his tongue brushing against mine. It feels like he devours me for ages before licking over Noble’s bondmark and pulling back.
“I love you, too, sweetheart.”
“Can I ask…” I frown, trying to decide if I want to hear the words. “Is it done?”
“It is,” Gunner says, his face appearing over Maverick’s shoulder. He stretches until our mouths meet, and then I’m lost to his pheromones in the air and the way he tastes on my tongue.
“Apparently, I have to go meet Bless for something,” Stacia says, breaking the moment as she saunters past us in the hallway. “Don’t bang in the hallway. Or do. I won’t be here to know.” She laughs, walks to the door, and heads out.
“You all smell freshly showered.” My nose twitches as Noble moves just behind Maverick’s other shoulder. “And a little like a campfire.”
“Ranger and Soren were more thorough than I would have guessed.” Noble chuckles. “They made us change into fresh clothes before we headed out. Even new boots, which cramped my toes since they were a size too small. And afterward, we had a nice campfire with all that attire that might have held evidence.”
“He’s a pain in the ass, but Ranger is extremely efficient at leaving no trace behind,” Maverick says, kissing my cheek.
“I didn’t see Locke come in. Is he okay?” I ask, glancing at Noble.
He nods. “Yeah. He’s with Bless.”
It’s strange.
Locke was estranged from his family for all the years I was with Avan, but it’s nice to know my kids will have some family left from their biological father’s side.
Noble pushes his plush lips to mine, and I find myself grinding against Maverick’s pelvis as he’s the one holding me up.
Noble pulls back and pecks a kiss on my forehead. “Let’s get settled in. We need some rest before the shortstack wakes up in a few short hours.”
Yeah.
She’s always an early riser.
“And, tomorrow, we can go back to your apartment and load up any of the stuff you couldn’t grab last time because of the rush you were in,” Gunner offers.
“Then, we get to make the trek to Virginia and really get started with our lives,” Maverick says, pulling me off the wall and heading toward the bedrooms.
I really don’t know how I got this lucky, but they bring me peace and happiness that I’ve never experienced. I’m not sure if it’s the universe or some higher power that guides our lives, but I say a very heartfelt thank you that they ended up with me.
Maverick gently tosses me down on the bed in the room Noble was given after his injury. The three of them surround me in a half circle around the end of the mattress, and my heart races.
Noble chuckles that dark sounding laugh that sends a shiver down my spine.
“Successful missions always lead to a surplus of…” Gunner smirks, tugging his T-shirt off with a hand at the back of his neck. “Pent-up energy.”
“O-Oh,” I whisper, licking my lips.
Good god.
He’s got a lot of abs.
And those sexy little muscles that line his sides.
