I’m not afraid of him.
We’re bonded.
I’m just a little overwhelmed by the chaos.
Gunner tugs me into his chest, brushing his lips over mine.
The scent of his blood fills my nostrils. I’m not sure when Ranger landed that particular hit, but they really weren’t holding back.
“Are you okay?” my stoic alpha asks.
I nod. “I’m really not sure the cheese was worth it, but now that I’m here…I kinda feel like I deserve my midnight snack after this insanity.”
Gunner snorts, kissing me deeply despite our audience. He rubs his hand over my stomach tenderly. “We’ll be sure you and the baby get your snack.”
Chapter Thirty-One
Maverick
Bless’s townhouse isn’t small, but adding three new people is pushing the limits of how many of us can be crammed inside.
I missed the insanity last night, which is probably a good thing, because if I were Gunner, I’m not sure I would have stopped punching until Ranger’s skull caved in.
Stacia comes down the hallway from checking on Brooklyn and Libby. They’re sticking in the room Libby’s been sleeping in because it’s time to talk about how we’re going to handle business.
Soren paces behind the couch as he texts someone.
I’m shocked he’s even here.
If I were in the same situation as him, I don’t think I could be pried away from Brooklyn.
Luckily, Keeley, his omega, has two other alphas in her pack to keep her company and help with the babies.
If it wasn’t personal to them, I doubt Soren would be here right now, but Avan played dirty when he kidnapped Keeley.
We all have skin in this game.
“How is your omega?” Gunner asks from his spot next to me on the floor.
“She’s fine,” Soren snaps in his Russian accent. “I, however, need to get this handled swiftly. My instincts are riled, and they will be until I’m once again at her side.”
“My family knows Dustin is missing. The fact his entire team disappeared with him makes it even more suspicious,” Bless says, gesturing to Noble. “But it’s something to keep them distracted.”
“Do they have a date for the wedding?” Noble asks, ignoring the jab that was directed at him.
“It’s been moved up to Friday evening.” Bless swallows thickly. “They’re scrambling. It’s no longer being held at the church, and the guest list has been whittled down to close family only. With members from both families, I’m guessing less than thirty people.”
“I have a face-to-face with Ivanov in two hours,” Soren says. “That won’t leave us much time to counter their changes. We have, what? A handful of days to come up with a plan if we intend to make the wedding our target.”
“Where will the ceremony be held now?” Ranger asks, reminding me he’s here.
“Avan’s mansion,” Bless mutters.
“We won’t even need to defile a church.” Noble chuckles.
Ranger rolls his pale blue eyes, glancing at my packmate. “Are you sure you’ll be up for the physical challenge of breaching the Barrett mansion?”
Noble continues chuckling as he raises a hand, flipping off my boss. “You’ve got a black eye too.”
