“It’s just us, Princess. Ignore everyone else. They don’t matter,” Ascher whispered in my other ear.
Apparently, he was the only one concerned about my mental state.
“I was just doing it to play the part. We need all the help we can get tonight!” I said with annoyance.
This was not the time or place for one of their possessive alpha bullshit meltdowns.
Ascher dragged his teeth down my neck, tattoos jumping as his hands gripped my waist.
He bit down. Hard. “You will never touch another man, ever again.” Ascher’s amber eyes glowed as he glared up at me.
“Don’t tell me what to do,” I snapped.
Cobra took another menacing step closer. “Kitten, this isn’t a negotiation.”
I was surrounded.
Cobra licked his lips. Xerxes flicked open his sex knife. Jax growled. Ascher glared.
I tried to take a step back, but Jax boxed me in.
I’d made a grave miscalculation.
Chapter 38
Sadie
SHADES OF BLOOD RED
The red strobe lights flickered faster and highlighted the harsh planes of three angry alphas and one collared omega.
I swallowed thickly.
Saying I would do whatever needed to be done felt vastly different from actually doing it.
Also, I hadn’t factored in the men being mad at me.
The platform beneath our feet spun in a slow circle, and it reminded me of a screaming coliseum and fighting against bloodthirsty gladiators.
The music pounded.
It was a different battle, but a war all the same.
I didn’t like the malicious sneer on Cobra’s face, or the way his lips curled up at the corners. Strobe lights and shadows danced across his face.
The shadow snake on my skin gave a zip and sent me images of happiness and love.
Damned bastard thought he was smooth.
I sent back images of me strangling him while he begged for mercy.
He tipped his gorgeous head back and laughed, shoulders shaking as the snake sent more zips across my flesh.
Abruptly, the laughter left his face, and the darkest scowl I’d ever seen contorted his expression.
The shadow snake sent me another zip of warmth and support, and I realized what he was doing. He was preparing me, reminding me that this was acting.
It wasn’t real.
