It was a coincidence that the monster my father would sell my soul away to just happened to be Link and Hunter’s dad. He would have come for me either way. If anything, having the guys in my life has saved me.
As for my father, if he didn’t sell me to that man, he would have sold me to another.
To him, I’m just a pawn, something to use to better himself in his fucked up little world. We’re not stupid, my father knows by now that Alvero is long gone and dead. That doesn’t mean I’m free of the shackles he locked around my wrists; it just means, to him, he’s now free to use me again.
Well, fuck him because I’m not going down easy. I’d much rather be dead than let him take me and sell me to another. He really doesn’t understand the anarchy he would be opening himself up to when he tries to take what he thinks is his.
My men will burn this world to the ground and everyone on it to protect me and our babies.
Andy and I sit and talk for a little while.
“So... I may have, kinda, met someone,” she tells me, biting her lip as she pulls her legs up on the couch.
I grin. “No way. Who? Where? When! How dare I only find this out now.”
She laughs. “Her name is Lacy. She works at the bookstore in town. She’s fucking stunning. Long black hair, glasses, and totally not my typical type. She’s shy and sweet, and all I want to do is wreck her in the best possible ways.”
“Andy!” My eyes widen as I laugh. “You're sounding as bad as my guys.”
She just grins and shrugs. “I’m starting to understand them a little better.”
“So, have you asked her out?”
She shakes her head. “No, not yet. I haven’t really done the dating thing, you know? I have no idea how to take a girl like her out. What does she like to do? What is she into?”
“You know how you find that out?” I ask her.
“How?”
“Talk to her.” I laugh.
“Or...“ She holds her hands out. “Hear me out, I watch her for a while and get a better understanding of her.”
“That's stalking, babe.” I hold back my laugh.
“I prefer to call it admiring from afar,” she sighs.
“Hello, ladies.” Hunter swaggers into the room, a grin on his face that tells me he’s up to no good.
“Hi,” I say slowly, raising an amused brow. “What are you up to?”
“Well, you know how you’ve been bitching about having to buy Baby Bird all her stuff online because you said we’re, and I quote 'Overgrown cavemen who won't even let you piss without a guard outside the bathroom door.'?”
“Because it’s true.” I nod, waiting for him to go on. He chuckles.
“Well, we’ve come up with a way we can go shopping and make sure you're safe.” His grin grows wider.
“We?”
Link steps into the living room with Andrew strapped into his car seat, Quinton following behind as the twins jog down the stairs.
“Ready to go?” Travis asks.
“Go where?” I ask.
“You didn’t tell her?” Taylor frowns.
“I was getting to that.” Hunter glares at him.
