Although Ashe and Tanwyn were relatively uninjured compared to the others, I still would’ve been worried sick.

Professor Garnet woke a few hours before I did, healing magic got him back to his old self. The moment Nurse Norah cleared us both, I pulled him up to my tower, and we didn’t leave it for two days.

In fact, no one bothered me at all.

Two more days passed before the chaos settled and classes started again. But I didn’t attend a single one yet. My sole focus became working with Officer Keres, using my AMCM to clear his agents so they could go home. I had a feeling I could pull my magic out of people now, but I didn’t dare try.

When I closed my eyes, the world still spun as I drew the power out of the air, drinking not only my magic but the harnessed elements of man-made energy. Would I pull a person’s very life out of their body?

A shiver ran down my spine.

Someone banged on my tower door. My heart seized. I clutched my chest. Rainbows refracted off the crystal dragon scales peppering my lower arms, clustering around my palms and wrists. But they didn’t disappear as they should have.

The knocking came a second time. I took a deep breath and crawled off my sofa. Vac rolled with his tongue sticking out of his mouth so I could open the door.

“That’s it,” Roisin said. “It’s been two weeks. You need to come out of your den of men and remember the world.”

I pulled my friend in for a hug, and she squeezed me back just as hard. When we pulled apart, we both pressed on each other's noses where a tiny knot from the breaks would forever mar their surfaces.

“I’m still finishing up some things,” I said vaguely.

Roisin rolled her eyes. “That better not be a secret code for sex.”

I stuck my tongue out to try and hide my flush. “It’s not.”

“Uh-huh.” Roisin pointed at my cheeks. “Then why are you blushing?”

I tried not to draw attention to the papers on my coffee table. “Do you want a drink of water?”

“No.” Roisin plopped down on my couch, picking up said papers. “Is this a schedule?”

Blood rushed to my cheeks. “Yes.”

Roisin peered at me. “A sex schedule?”

I tore the paper out of her hands. “They’re like a gaggle of cats, or whatever you call cats in a group.” I hit my head with the paper. “You would think almost dying fighting together would’ve brought them closer. But no.” I fell back onto my couch and sighed. “Keith will sleep with anyone, but Ashe won’t sleep with Keith or Saff. Beryl will sleep with anyone, but only if he can have the left side of the bed. Wyn prefers to sleep with just me and won’t sleep with Beryl. But once Ashe heard, he also declared his preference for sleeping with just me. so now Ashe and Wyn have an alliance, but Beryl is the only person Ashe will share with without complaint. So, I’m not even sure what their alliance is for except….”

I trailed off and wiggled, remembering my playtime with the three of them last night. I’d felt terrible waking up with Tanwyn curled up on the bottom of the bed, but he didn’t seem to mind it. He snuggled into my crotch between the two men quite happily, actually.

“Save that story for Sandy.” Roisin wrinkled her nose. “I like to read my porn, not listen to it. Maybe you need to start making videos like Ghalen. Especially as he put out his last one.”

I threw a pillow at Roisin's head, and she caught it, grinning.

I pouted, “Show off.”

Roisin smacked her lips. “It doesn’t take much.”

I refrained from sticking my tongue out a second time.

“You’re coming to the graduation ceremony today,” Roisin declared. “Ghalen, Saffron, Beryl…” She started listing all the people she knew, and I forced myself to smile.

Graduation was good, really good—finally, a step in the right direction for the students here.

I don’t know what Officer Keres said when he returned to the MA. But he went back with Tederwinkle and Nitis in body bags, tying every part of the black market to Beryl’s now deceased friend.

“Are you even listening to me?” Roisin asked. “You better not be thinking about Beryl. He’s in your harem now. You don’t need to wistfully gaze at him from across the cafeteria.”

I shoved my friend. “I didn’t do that!”
