A glint entered Professor Garnet’s gaze. “Round one was for you. Round two is for us.”
I shivered in anticipation.
Ashe rejoined us, six water bottles in his arms. He passed them out, and the professor released one of my arms so I could down the cool liquid.
My magic danced between my guys, showering my loft in rainbows. I licked my lips. “If we don’t sleep, I won’t have to figure out sleeping arrangements.”
The professor’s red magic tightened around me, and even Ashe grinned.
Chapter 21
I’m not sure if everyone had the forethought to silence their phones or if my magic fucked with electrical signals, but I woke up in a pile of bodies well into the afternoon. I tried to slip out of bed without disturbing anyone but failed miserably. Men groaned and tried to pull me back into bed before cursing as they realized they cuddled with each other.
I grinned and wiggled my butt.
My stomach growled. After a quick trip to the washroom, I whipped up a plate of cheese and crackers—the breakfast of champions.
“Based on the light show last night, you’ve been excused from classes for the day – Teddy,” Ashe read from a note slid under my door.
I squirmed uncomfortably, looking at the shirtless Ashe still filled with my magic. “Does he even have the authority to do that?”
“Take it,” Beryl said from the bottom of my spiral stairs. Ashe’s standard MA pants hung low across his perfect V hips. He turned his phone off. “I got the same message, though my MA ‘friends’ are outside your door.”
I looked for Saffron and Tanwyn, but my assumption that we all woke up was incorrect.
“He canceled my classes for the day.” Professor Garnet leaned against my kitchen counter, dressed only in his linen pants. “His text came in at four this morning. The recruiter’s watching your room. We’ll double-check, but I’m willing to bet Tanwyn and Saffron have the same message.”
I scowled. “As long as he can’t come in it anymore.”
“He can’t,” Ashe and the professor said at the same time.
They narrowed their eyes at each other.
I shook my head. I’d been pretty out of it, but if I remembered correctly, even in our intimate moments last night, Ashe and the professor hadn’t gotten along. The cat analogy I’d applied to Saffron and Beryl expanded to include my entire harem.
Professor Garnet yawned and straightened. He gestured toward the doors. “Come on, Ashe, let’s charge Aphy’s runes.”
Ashe looked longingly at his coffee machine, then glanced at our single washroom before turning on his heels and following the professor.
I chuckled and looked for Beryl, expecting him to be rushing around to get his day started, but he wasn’t. Instead, he hit the coffee machine, forcing Ashe to run over and chase him away.
Beryl slid to my side. “Today, all of your wizard jokes are in person.” He picked up a cracker with cheese on it. “After, I wake up Boy Scout and Wyn for a food run.”
I kissed him hard, cracker-filled mouth and all, almost starting a repeat of last night.
Tanwyn cleared his throat, peeking down from the top of the stairs. “I don’t do well hungry. Let's focus on the first part of your plan.”
Beryl kissed me again. He waited for Tanwyn to come down the stairs before heading up to wake sleeping beauty.
Tanwyn blushed. “I can’t believe they cheered me on last night.” He rubbed his arms. “It was both embarrassing and thrilling. I’ve never really been a part of something before.”
I gave him a side hug, knowing exactly how he felt. “Don’t worry. They’re all back to their grumpy selves this morning.” I smiled at him. “Thank you again for being blunt with me. I know the guys know it, but I didn’t grow up normally, so I don’t always see what I should. I want you here.”
Tanwyn smiled. “I know, but it’s nice to hear it.”
I released him to get changed. Above me, Saffron and Beryl exchanged heated words. I sighed and slinked back to the kitchen.
We’d have to make do with my subpar pour-over coffee.
